Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.

Unraveling the role of gut microbiota by fecal microbiota transplantation in rat model of kidney stone disease

open access: yesScientific Reports
Emerging research on the microbiome highlights the significant role of gut health in the development of kidney stones, indicating that an imbalance in gut bacteria or dysbiosis can influence the formation of stones by altering oxalate metabolism and ...

STXBP3 and GOT2 predict immunological activity in acute allograft rejection

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2022
BackgroundAcute allograft rejection (AR) following renal transplantation contributes to chronic rejection and allograft dysfunction. The current diagnosis of AR remains dependent on renal allograft biopsy which cannot immediately detect renal allograft ...

Quantitative proteomic analysis reveals different characteristics of bladder cancer cells after exposure to bisphenol A

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bisphenol A (BPA), a common chemical in plastics, exerts dual effects on bladder cancer cells: low doses promote growth and migration, while high doses suppress growth and migration. Multi‐omics and bioinformatics reveal BPA acts via MAPK and inflammatory pathways.

Development and preclinical evaluation of a novel FGFR3-targeted antibody-drug conjugate in bladder cancer

open access: yesAsian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences
Given the critical shortage of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) for bladder cancer (BCa), we developed a novel FGFR3-targeted ADC, LZU-WZLYFG001, composed of a humanized anti-FGFR3 IgG1 monoclonal antibody, a cleavable GGFG linker, and the payload DXD ...

Role of Age-Related Changes in DNA Methylation in the Disproportionate Susceptibility and Worse Outcomes of Sepsis in Older Adults

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine, 2022
Sepsis, a complex multisystem disorder, is among the top causes of hospitalization and mortality in older adults. However, the mechanisms underlying the disproportionate susceptibility to sepsis and worse outcomes in the elderly are not well understood ...

Natural Products as Geroprotective Modulators in Diabetic Nephropathy: A Mechanistic Framework Integrating Aging Hallmarks and the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 Axis

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Natural products target the aging kidney in diabetic nephropathy by restoring the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 axis, reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, fibrosis, and cellular senescence while enhancing mitochondrial biogenesis and antioxidant defenses.

Evodiamine induces ferroptosis in prostate cancer cells by inhibiting TRIM26-mediated stabilization of GPX4

open access: yesChinese Medicine
Background Prostate cancer is a major global health challenge, characterized by high morbidity and mortality rates. Traditional treatment options, including androgen deprivation therapy and chemotherapy, often lead to drug resistance.

Frailty Exacerbates Disability in Progressive Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background To evaluate frailty in severe progressive multiple sclerosis (PMS) and to investigate the underlying mechanisms. Methods This prospective, cross‐sectional, multicenter study enrolled a late severe PMS group requiring skilled nursing (n = 53) and an age, sex, and disease duration‐matched control PMS group (n = 53).

USP7 promotes chemotherapy resistance and DNA damage response through stabilizing and deubiquitinating KDM4A in bladder cancer

open access: yesCell Death and Disease
Bladder cancer is a common malignancy, and the insensitivity of advanced bladder cancer to cisplatin poses an imminent challenge to treatment. Our study aims to identify novel targets that mediate cisplatin responsiveness in bladder cancer.
