4-Deoxy uronic acids

Carbohydrate Research, 1969
Abstract Starting from the anomers of methyl (methyl D -galactopyranosid)uronate the corresponding Δ 4,5 unsaturated uronic acid derivatives, the anomeric methyl (methyl 4-deoxy- L - threo -hex-4-enopyranosid)uronates, have been prepared by a base-catalyzed elimination reaction.

Aldonic and Uronic Acids

1969
Publisher Summary This chapter describes the function of aldonic and uronic acids. These are intermediates in carbohydrate oxidation and function in the biosynthesis of cellular constituents, and these play a vital role in mammals. According to a recent discovery, uronic acid was found to be an antecedent of L-ascorbic acid in those animals that are ...

The naphthoresorcinol reaction of uronic acids

Analytica Chimica Acta, 1953
Abstract Sources of error are stated which should be considered in carrying out the Nap R with uronic acids. The most suitable conditions for quantitative evaluation of the reaction are specified.

THERMAL DECARBOXYLATION OF URONIC ACIDS

Canadian Journal of Chemistry, 1952
A novel decarboxylation of uronic acids by merely heating the material without the use of a solvent or added catalyst is described. At approximately 255 °C. decarboxylation for uronic and polyuronic acids and salts within 15 min. reaction time is nearly quantitative.
