Solubilization of oleanolic acid and ursolic acid by cosolvency

Archives of Pharmacal Research, 1997
Solubilities of oleanolic acid and ursolic acid in aqueous surfactant solutions, liquid polyethylene glycols (PEG), and solvents of various polarity were measured. The results showed that the solutes were slightly or moderately solubilized in the surfactant solutions and the liquid PEGs.

The cytotoxic activity of ursolic acid derivatives

European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2005
Ursolic acid and 2alpha-hydroxyursolic acid isolated from apple peels were found to show growth inhibitory activity against four tumor cell lines, HL-60, BGC, Bel-7402 and Hela. Structural modifications were performed on the C-3, C-28 and C-11 positions of ursolic acid and the cytotoxicity of the derivatives was evaluated.

Ursolic acid: An anti‐ and pro‐inflammatory triterpenoid

Molecular Nutrition & Food Research, 2008
AbstractThere is growing interest in the elucidation of the biological functions of triterpenoids, ubiquitously distributed throughout the plant kingdom, some of which are used as anticancer and anti‐inflammatory agents in Asian countries. Ursolic acid (UA), a natural pentacyclic triterpenoid carboxylic acid, is the major component of some traditional ...

Ursolic Acid Prevents Retinoic Acid-Induced Bone Loss in Rats

Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine, 2018
To examine the effects of ursolic acid (UA) on mitigating retinoic acid (RA)-induced osteoporosis in rats.Fifty female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into the control group (n=10) and the osteoporosis group (n=40). The 40 osteoporosis rats were induced by 75 mg/(kg•d) RA once daily for 2 weeks, and then were randomly assigned to vehicle ...

Structure of ursolic acid ethanol solvate

Acta Crystallographica Section C Crystal Structure Communications, 1992

Biosynthesis of ursolic acid-2-14C

Phytochemistry, 1967
Abstract Ursolic acid- 14 C was prepared by administration of mevalonic acid-2- 14 C, sodium acetate-1- and -2- 14 C, sodium formate- 14 C and l -methionine-methyl- 14 C respectively to cut sections of Salvia officinalis . Only mevalonic acid-2- 14 C was incorporated efficiently into the acidic triterpene.
