Caregiver-Conducted Experimental Functional Analyses of InappropriateMealtime Behavior

open access: yes, 2008
The purpose of the current study was to replicate the use of parents as therapists for experimental functional analyses of inappropriate mealtime behavior with multiple participants while measuring procedural integrity.

Interventions for methamphetamine use among people on methadone maintenance treatment in Vietnam: a sequential multiple assignment randomized trial (STAR-OM)Research in context

open access: yesThe Lancet Regional Health - Southeast Asia
Summary: Background: Methamphetamine (MA) co-use with opioids has increased in Vietnam, hindering methadone maintenance therapy (MMT) through non-adherence and returning to opioid use.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Drugs, brains and behavior: the science of addiction.

open access: yes, 2014
For much of the past century, scientists studying drug abuse labored in the shadows of powerful myths and misconceptions about the nature of addiction. When scientists began to study addictive behavior in the 1930s, people addicted to drugs were thought ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Altered Physiological, Affective, and Functional Connectivity Responses to Acute Stress in Patients With Alcohol Use Disorder

open access: yesBiological Psychiatry Global Open Science
Background: There is evidence that the processing of acute stress is altered in alcohol use disorder (AUD), but little is known about how this is manifested simultaneously across different stress parameters and which neural processes are involved.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Household type and structure, time-use pattern, and trip-chaining behavior

open access: yes, 2007
In order to examine time allocation patterns within household-level trip-chaining, simultaneous doubly-censored Tobit models are applied to model time-use behavior within the context of household activity participation.

Adolescent Suicidal Behavior and Substance Use: Developmental Mechanisms

open access: yesSubstance Abuse: Research and Treatment, 2008
Adolescent suicidal behaviors and substance use are disturbingly common. Research suggests overlap of some of the etiological mechanisms for both adolescent suicidal behavior and substance use, yet clear understanding of the complex relations between ...
