Arboviruses such as West Nile Virus (WNV) and Usutu Virus (USUV) are emerging pathogens that circulate between mosquitoes and birds, occasionally spilling over into humans and horses. Current serological screening methods require access to a well-equipped laboratory and are not currently available for on-site analysis. As a proof of concept, we propose

Abstract The growing importance of the Usutu virus (USUV) as an emerging zoonotic viral pathogen motivated Poland to investigate the epidemiological status of USUV infections among native bird species. Consequently, out of the 357 birds tested, 34 avian individuals from different geographical areas of the country were confirmed to be ...

West Nile virus (WNV) and Usutu virus (USUV) are emerging vector-borne zoonotic flaviviruses. Both viruses are transmitted through an enzootic cycle involving Culex mosquitoes and a range of avian hosts but they occasionally infect mammals such as equines or humans.

DESIGNING OF A RT REAL TIME PCR ASSAY BASED ON NS1 GENE FOR RAPID DETECTION OF USUTU VIRUS (USUV)
2015Introduction: Usutu virus belongs to the Japanese encephalitis virus group (the isolates exhibited 97% identity) within the family Flaviviridae closely related to West Nile virus (WNV). Both share in nature an enzootic infectious cycle between avian hosts and mosquito vectors (i.e. Culex spp.).
