Hair Cells in Mammalian Utricles
Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, 1998Two morphological classes of mechanosensory cells have been described in the vestibular organs of mammals, birds, and reptiles: type I and type II hair cells. Type II hair cells resemble hair cells in other organs in that they receive bouton terminals from primary afferent neurons.

Certain groups of living Chlorophyta (green algae) have thalli made up of long, tubular cells with many nuclei and many plastids (Tappan, 1980; Bold and Wynne, 1985). The only cross walls in these coenocytes are those that isolate the gamete-producing structures. As the coenocytes approach the edges of the thallus, they branch, generally dichotomously,

Action Potential of Isolated Frog Utricle
Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1983The action potential of an isolated frog utricle was recorded using a suction electrode. The utricle was stimulated with iron sand which were spread evenly on the macula. A magnetic force was employed to induce the iron sand to depress the macula lightly.

Surgical management of enlarged prostatic utricle
Pediatric Surgery International, 2000The prostatic utricle (PU), or prostatic pouch, is a rudimentary structure present in the male prostatic urethra, and is derived from both the müllerian and wolffian ducts. As the PU is of mixed origin, a patient with an enlarged utricle should be carefully examined to ascertain whether it is associated with female internal organs.

Endometrial Carcinoma of the Prostatic Utricle
American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1973The seventh case of endometrial carcinoma of the prostatic utricle is reported. The differential diagnosis of this condition, particularly from papillary adenocarcinoma of the prostate, is important.

Prostatic Utricle: An Unusual Case Report
European Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 1994A 3-year-old white patient was hospitalized for the second recurrence of an epididymitis but this time with a left scrotal abscess. He was known to have a perineoscrotal hypospadias associated with bilateral undescended testis. Cystoscopy with cytourethrography releaved the presence of a "prostatic utricle".

Prostatic Utricle Cysts (Müllerian Duct Cysts)
Journal of Urology, 1978A series of 88 male patients with prostatic utricle cysts (müllerian duct) has been compiled by adding our 3 patients to 85 cases reported. Irritative lower urinary tract symptoms were the most common presenting complaint (42 per cent), while lower obstructive symptoms were noted in 29 per cent.

A prostatic utricle is a congenital outpouching of the prostatic urethra. Signs, symptoms, and indications for surgical intervention include hematuria, pseudo-incontinence from urine trapping within the utricle, lower urinary tract symptoms, recurrent urinary tract infections, and stone formation within the pouch.

Transepithelial cation movements in gerbil utricles
American Journal of Otolaryngology, 1985The inner ear epithelium secretes potassium (K+) and absorbs sodium (Na+). The authors' experiments utilized, for the first time, isolation of the nonsensory from the sensory regions of the utricle in the vestibular labyrinth of the gerbil by means of injecting insulating seals. It was found that the isolated nonsensory region accumulated rubidium (Rb+)
