Bio‐Inspired Magnetically Tunable Structural Colors from Elliptical Self‐Assembled Block Copolymer Microparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cephalopod‐inspired photonic microparticles with dynamic structural coloration are fabricated via confined self‐assembly of linear block copolymers into ellipsoids containing stacked lamellae. Embedded superparamagnetic nanoparticles enable rapid magnetic alignment, restoring vivid, angle‐dependent color.

Carbon Contacts to Proteins Enable Robust, Biocompatible Electronic Junctions with Near‐Activation‐less Conduction Down to 10 K

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A robust solid‐state protein junction with a semi‐transparent eC/Au electrode allows photoexcitation of the bacterio‐rhodopsin, bR layer, to isomerize the bR retinal. The resulting photo‐response shows the protein is functional in the solid‐state junction.

Effect of pressure on the UV–Vis spectra of Acid Red 266, Benzopurpurine 4B and Congo Red in water and ethane-1,2-diol up to 2400 bar

Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2001
The effect of high pressure up to 2400 bar on the UV–Vis spectra of three azo dyes, Acid Red 266 (AR), Benzopurpurine 4B (BP) and Congo Red (CR), in ethane-1,2-diol and water was investigated. The pressure dependences of the wavenumbers at maximum absorbance, νmax(p), recorded in both solvents, were determined and from those the corresponding gradients,
