UV Spectrophotometric Method for Determination of the Dissolution Profile of Rivaroxaban

open access: yesDissolution Technologies, 2014
Rivaroxaban is an oral anticoagulant that is the first available orally active direct Factor Xa inhibitor. In this study, a UV spectrophotometric method was developed for the determination of rivaroxaban content in pharmaceutical formulations and the amount of rivaroxaban released in tablet dissolution studies.

Symbolic Regression and Multi‐Objective Optimization of the Flory–Huggins Interaction Parameter for Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We develop a data‐driven method to derive the mathematical expressions of the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter χ for the swelling behavior of temperature–responsive hydrogels. Starting from initial assumptions of χ, our workflow combines Bayesian optimization, Flory–Rehner theory, and symbolic regression to generate candidate χ expressions.

Sunscreens - Which and what for? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
It is well established that sun exposure is the main cause for the development of skin cancer. Chronic continuous UV radiation is believed to induce malignant melanoma, whereas intermittent high-dose UV exposure contributes to the occurrence of actinic ...

Cathodic Cage Plasma Deposition of Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se Coatings on Poly(methyl Methacrylate)

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Nanostructured Cu–Fe–Se coatings are deposited on PMMA by a modified cathodic cage plasma process, enabling low‐temperature deposition on polymer substrates. A transition from discontinuous to compact morphology is observed with temperature, with optimal properties at 200°C, where improved CuFeSe2‐type bonding, lowest sheet resistance, and favorable ...

Low Cycle Repetitive Loading of Ti‐6Al‐4V‐Epoxy Composite Lattice Structures for Enhanced Energy Dissipation and Damage Tolerance

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...

UV-Light-Induced Aggregation of Arsenic and Metal Sulfide Particles in Acidic Wastewater: The Role of Free Radicals

open access: yes, 2018
The removal of arsenic and metals by sulfide (S(-II)) from acidic wastewater is an efficient method. However, the small sulfide particles formed in such a process make solid–liquid separation difficult, which greatly hinders its application.
