Different SARS‐CoV‐2 Subvariants and Coagulation Markers Trend: A Retrospective Multicentric Study From Iranian Network for Research in Viral Diseases (INRVD)

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims This study aims to examine the prevalence and progression of coagulation disorders in adult COVID‐19 patients and evaluate the effect of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) on coagulation markers. Methods This retrospective study included 1885 hospitalized COVID‐19 patients, aged 20 to over 90 years,

The Flavivirus NS3 Protein: Its Multifaceted Roles and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 98, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Mosquito‐borne flaviviruses are important human pathogenic viruses and can cause an array of symptoms ranging from asymptomatic to mild illness but can progress to severe disease conditions. Prominent members of the family Flaviviridae include Dengue virus, Zika virus, and West Nile virus, whose spread has increased globally due to the ...

West Nile Virus Transmission Suitability Modeling for Culex pipiens via Temperature and Humidity

open access: yesGeoHealth, Volume 10, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract West Nile Virus (WNV) is the leading cause of mosquito‐borne disease in the United States, yet predicting its transmission remains a significant challenge for public health officials. Many studies use correlative statistical models to predict disease cases using temperature and humidity, but accessible mechanistic approaches that simulate ...

Neoclassical development of genetic sexing strains for insect pest and disease vector control

open access: yesInsect Science, Volume 33, Issue 2, Page 618-639, April 2026.
The sterile insect technique has been effectively used for decades, and an important component is the availability of sex separation systems, in particular genetic sexing strains. Classical approaches, such as irradiation‐induced chromosomal translocations, have yielded stable strains for species like the Mediterranean fruit fly.

Protective Role for Itaconate During Inhaled Allergen Challenge

open access: yesAllergy, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1099-1110, April 2026.
Itaconate levels decrease in sputum following allergen inhalation in mild asthmatics, suggesting a dynamic metabolic response to airway challenge. Genetic deletion of Acod1 in mice did not alter airway inflammation or remodelling in response to chronic HDM exposure.

Infants' General Movements Were Not Affected by Exposure to Maternal Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 Infections

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, Volume 115, Issue 4, Page 913-922, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim Prenatal maternal infections may impair infant brain development. This study investigated the effect of maternal infections with the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) during pregnancy on infant neurodevelopment by assessing general movements (GMs).
