MobSampling: V2V Communications for Traffic Density Estimation

2011 IEEE 73rd Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC Spring), 2011
We propose a fully-distributed approach to the on line estimation of vehicle traffic density. Our approach envisions vehicles communicating within a VANET and cooperating to collect density measurements through a uniform sampling of the road sections of interest.

Value-Anticipating V2V Communications for Cooperative Perception

2019 IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium (IV), 2019
The growing penetration of on-board communication units is enabling intelligent vehicles to share their sensor data with cloud computing platforms as well as with other vehicles. Although this unlocks the possibility of a variety of emerging applications, the massive amount of data traffic in vehicular networks is expected to pose a big challenge in ...

Regularized ICI Cancellation in V2V Communications

Proceedings of the 16th International Conference on Engineering Applications of Neural Networks (INNS), 2015
In this work, we consider a V2V commnunication system operating over high relative speeds. In this scenario, the wireless channel is characterized by double selectivity, which results into intercarrier interference (ICI) at the receiver. To mitigate this effect, several equalization schemes have been proposed, which usually adopt a banded approximation

Beamforming for Beaconing in V2V Communications

2019 IEEE XXVI International Conference on Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computing (INTERCON), 2019
The following manuscript studies the benefits and weaknesses of using beamforming for beaconing in a vehicle to vehicle communication scenario following the specifications of the IEEE 802.11p standard. This is done through a simulation in which the performance of a uniform linear array of two isotropic antennas is compared to an isotropic antenna with ...

Coordinated Lane Changing Using V2V Communications

2018 IEEE 88th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC-Fall), 2018
Lane changing behavior is one source of vehicle accidents on the road. Before changing to another lane, the driver needs to carefully assess the distances to surrounding vehicles. Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communications provide an opportunity to make lane changing decisions more safe and efficient. Within a vehicular network, all connected vehicles are

Secure V2V Communication With Certificate Revocations

2007 Mobile Networking for Vehicular Environments, 2007
Secure communication of time critical information in V2V networks is expected to be achieved via a robust infrastructure that provides security related services at all times. This paper explores the dependence of performance of secure V2V communications on the mechanisms used by the security infrastructure.

Mobile communication application for V2V systems

2017 International Symposium on Signals, Circuits and Systems (ISSCS), 2017
The increasing number of personal and commercial vehicles in transit induces a high volume of road traffic, which can often lead to serious incidents such as permanent traffic jams, increased gas pollution, accidents with material or even human losses.

Analysis of V2V communication for ADAS

2017 Ninth International Conference on Ubiquitous and Future Networks (ICUFN), 2017
Recently, Advanced Driver-assist Systems (ADASs) have attracted, demonstrating the possibility that semi-autonomous driving using state-of-the-art sensors assists the drivers with more safety, convenience, and risk avoidance than controlling the car manually. ADASs work by judging the surrounding situation with the sensor data in a vehicle, but it will

Empirical Performance Models for V2V Communications

2015 IEEE International Conference on Computer and Information Technology; Ubiquitous Computing and Communications; Dependable, Autonomic and Secure Computing; Pervasive Intelligence and Computing, 2015
Vehicular networks will significantly enhance traffic safety and management thanks to the wireless exchange of messages between vehicles and between vehicles and infrastructure nodes. Vehicular networks will make use of the IEEE 802.11p technology in the 5.9GHz frequency band.

V2V Vehicle Safety Communication

2018
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NTHSA) has been interested in vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication as the next step in addressing grooving rates of fatalities from vehicle related crashes. Today’s crash avoidance technologies depend on on-board sensors like camera and radar to provide awareness input to the safety applications.
