CHI '06 Extended Abstracts on Human Factors in Computing Systems, 2006
In experimental research the job of analyzing data is an extremely slow and laborious process. In particular, video and audio data of human behavior are particularly difficult to analyze, as this type of information does not lend itself to automation. Here we present VACA, an open source tool for qualitative video analysis.

In search of the Helicobacter pylori VacA mechanism of action
Toxicon, 2001Helicobacter pylori secretes an approximately 88 kDa VacA toxin that is considered to be an important virulence factor in the pathogenesis of peptic ulcer disease. Over the past decade, research on the molecular mechanisms and biological functions of VacA has generated a complex and often puzzling scenario. VacA is secreted into the extracellular space

Vaca Muerta mesosiderite strewnfield
Meteoritics, 1992Abstract A field investigation is presented of the strewnfield of the mesosiderite Vaca Muerta, originally found in 1861. The area, 11.5 km long, 2.1 km wide, is located about 60 km southeast of Taltal, Chile, in the Atacama Desert. It has yielded 80 meteorites with a total mass exceeding 3782 kg.

Analysis of Helicobacter pylori VacA-containing vacuoles and VacA intracellular trafficking
2015The human pathogen Helicobacter pylori colonizes half of the global population. Residing at the stomach epithelium, it contributes to the development of diseases like gastritis, duodenal and gastric ulcers, and gastric cancer. It has evolved a range of mechanisms to aid in colonization and persistence, manipulating the host immune response to avoid ...

Helicobacter pylori VacA and Gastric Ulcer
International Journal of Hematology, 2006VacA, the only protein toxin produced by Helicobacter pylori, vacuolates cultured cells. The presence of 2 VacA receptors has been demonstrated. One is the receptor-type protein tyrosine phosphatase (RPTP) zeta/beta (PTP zeta/beta), and the other is RPTP alpha. VacA binds to PTP zeta/beta, resulting in gastric epithelial detachment through the tyrosine
