Factors influencing attitudes toward vaccine safety and vaccine effectiveness amongst UK healthcare professionals prior to and at the time of COVID-19 vaccine rollout: Insights from the CoPE-HCP cohort study

open access: yesHuman Vaccines & Immunotherapeutics, 2023
Given the potential for nosocomial outbreaks, we must understand factors associated with negative vaccine attitudes amongst healthcare professionals (HCPs) before the rollout of a newly developed vaccine in a pandemic setting. The aim of this prospective

From Payload‐First Toward Dual‐Mechanism Antibody–Drug Conjugates

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Conjugation converts potent antibodies into underexposed carriers. This perspective defines the antibody exposure deficit and maps a mechanism‐first design space from payload‐first to antibody‐first ADC architectures, integrating DAR, linker chemistry, and Fc engineering to guide rational design of constructs that balance targeted cytotoxicity with ...

Serum Troponin I Assessments in 5- to 30-Year-Olds After BNT162b2 Vaccination

open access: yesInfectious Diseases and Therapy
Introduction Rare myocarditis and pericarditis cases have occurred in coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine recipients. Troponin levels, a potential marker of myocardial injury, were assessed in healthy participants before and ...

CPP–PEG‐Guided Surface Engineering of Mitochondria Enables Efficient Cellular Uptake and Respiratory Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
PEG‐guided mitochondrial surface engineering supports structural stabilization and controlled presentation of cell‐penetrating peptides. CPP–PEG‐modified mitochondria exhibit enhanced cellular uptake and uptake‐associated respiratory modulation, providing a proof‐of‐concept framework for modular organelle engineering and future bioenergetic modulation ...

Aptamer‐Engineered Liposomal Platform Enables in Situ cDC1 Vaccination to Potentiate Immunotherapy in Prostate Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Prostate cancer is immunologically ‘cold’, with scarce, dysfunctional type 1 conventional dendritic cells (cDC1s) that limit T cell priming. We introduce an aptamer‐targeted liposomedelivering FMS‐like tyrosine kinase 3 ligand (Flt3L) and chlorin e6 (Ce6). Ultrasound induces antigen release and cDC1s recruitment, creating an in situ cDC1 vaccine.

Disease Burden and Inpatient Management of Children with Acute Respiratory Viral Infections during the Pre-COVID Era in Germany: A Cost-of-Illness Study

open access: yesViruses
Respiratory viral infections (RVIs) are common reasons for healthcare consultations. The inpatient management of RVIs consumes significant resources. From 2009 to 2014, we assessed the costs of RVI management in 4776 hospitalized children aged 0–18 years

Radiotherapy Enhances the Oncolytic Efficacy of the Novel Oncolytic Herpesvirus VG161 and Amplifies Its Antitumor Immunity in Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
RT promotes VG161 replication in BC and its immunostimulatory transgenes expression, which is mediated by the upregulation of GADD34 and HVEM caused by RT. The combination therapy with VG161 and RT increases the abundances of tumor‐infiltrating lymphocytes and elicits potent systemic antitumor immunity, thereby effectively inhibiting local tumors and ...
