Phenolics in Slovenian Bilberries (Vaccinium myrtillus L.) and Blueberries (Vaccinium corymbosum L.)

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2011
Phenolics from bilberries ( Vaccinium myrtillus L.) sampled from seven different locations and highbush blueberries ( Vaccinium corymbosum L.) from one location in Slovenia were analyzed. In samples of both species 15 anthocyanins were identified by LC-MS/MS. Their contents were expressed as cyanidin 3-glucoside equivalents (C3GE); bilberries contained

Blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum L.)

2014
Vaccinium consists of approximately 450 species, of which highbush blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum) is one of the three major Vaccinium fruit crops (i.e., blueberry, cranberry, and lingonberry) domesticated in the twentieth century. In blueberry the adventitious shoot regeneration using leaf explants has been the most desirable regeneration system to ...

Diaporthe species associated with twig blight and dieback of Vaccinium corymbosum in Portugal, with description of four new species

Mycologia, 2020
Blueberry, an increasingly cultivated fruit crop in Portugal, is known to be susceptible to twig blight and dieback caused by species of Diaporthe. The diversity of Diaporthe species associated with symptomatic and asymptomatic Vaccinium corymbosum ...

Changes in fruit firmness, quality traits and cell wall constituents of two highbush blueberries (Vaccinium corymbosum L.) during postharvest cold storage

Scientia Horticulturae, 2019
Blueberries are now the second most economically important soft fruit. However, they are highly perishable and susceptible to rapid spoilage. Softening is one of the main reasons for short postharvest life of blueberries.

Honeybee pollination of highbush blueberries (Vaccinium corymbosum)

Australian Journal of Experimental Agriculture, 1988
The role of honeybees (Apis mellifera) in the pollination of highbush blueberries was studied in an experimental planting at Knoxfield, Victoria. Honeybees comprised 95.4% of all insect visitors to this crop, and their foraging activity made them efficient pollinators. Plants visited by bees had a greater percentage fruit set (61 v.

Organic Supplementation of Vaccinium corymbosum Micropropagation Media

The best Vaccinium corymbosum plant growth under in vitro conditions can be achieved by using the right composition and pH of the medium. For the initial phase of in vitro culture, a combination of cytokinins-mostly zeatin-can usually be used. Organic supplementation of the medium enables the use of a replacement for the expensive natural cytokinin ...

Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation of blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum L.)

Plant Cell Reports, 2004
Transient expression studies using blueberry leaf explants and monitored by beta-glucuronidase (GUS) assays indicated Agrobacterium tumefaciens strain EHA105 was more effective than LBA4404 or GV3101; and the use of acetosyringone (AS) at 100 microM for inoculation and 6 days co-cultivation was optimum compared to 2, 4, 8, 10 or 12 days.
