Experimental methods in chemical engineering: Atomic absorption spectrometry—AAS

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract Elements absorb electromagnetic radiation (light) of a specific wavelength in proportion to the number of atoms in its path. As the atoms absorb this light energy, electrons rise from the ground state to an excited state. In atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS), high temperatures produce clouds of atoms from the sample (atomization) and ...

Recent advances in boosting interfacial bubble dynamics with external fields

open access: yesDroplet, EarlyView.
External physical fields, including acoustic, magnetic, thermal, mechanical, and optical stimuli, accelerate the entire bubble‐dynamics sequence of nucleation, growth, and detachment. Abstract The efficiency of industrial electrocatalytic reactions depends not only on generating gaseous products but also on their detachment from the catalyst surface ...

Slip versus dilation tendency parameter space as a tool for prospecting structurally controlled geothermal systems in greenfield: insights from the greater Ruhr region

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study highlights that with the static and time‐dependent evolution of slip versus dilation tendency parameter space, structurally controlled deep geothermal systems can be selected within areas of higher permeability and lower seismic hazard. Abstract Faults play a vital role in the Earth's hydraulic system by facilitating fluid flow when dilating

Synergetic Effect of Silicate Addition on Modifying Zincate Solvation and Regulating ZnO Formation Revealed by In Situ Raman Observation during Zn Discharging

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A practical and synergetic interfacial engineering strategy via silicate addition to modulate the Zn passivation issue for developing rechargeable Zn batteries is introduced. Zn offers higher safety and lower material cost over Li, making it promising alternative anode material for secondary batteries and grid‐scale sustainable energy storage ...

Efficient Kesterite Solar Cells via Scalable Doctor‐Blading of 2‐Methoxyethanol‐Based Molecular Ink

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A new record efficiency of 13.26% has been achieved for doctor‐bladed CZTSSe solar cells, fabricated for the first time from an MOE‐based molecular ink in ambient air. Cu2ZnSn(S,Se)4 (CZTSSe) thin‐film solar cells have garnered significant interest owing to their appealing properties, such as earth‐abundant composition, environmental friendliness, high

From Disruption to Stabilization: A Functional Governance Perspective on the Renewable Energy Transition in Montenegro

open access: yesEnvironmental Policy and Governance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As global climate ambitions intensify, the key challenge lies not in setting renewable energy targets but in designing governance systems that can translate them into lasting transformation. The transition management literature has advanced a valuable research agenda for initiating change through niche innovations and participatory arenas in ...

Mass Exchange Flow Process in Side Channel Pumps: Effects of Different Geometrical Parameters

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Figure 1 shows the Mass Flow Exchange (MFE) in the impeller at z = 7.5 × 10−3 m at 1.0 Q/QBEP, operating point for impeller scheme 1 (IMP 1), and impeller scheme 2 (IMP 2). The flow begins to exit the impeller at the outer radius and enters at the inner and central radii. IMP 1 exhibits more flow in and out compared to IMP 2. ABSTRACT The functionality

Collaborative Optimization of Electromagnetic Interference Shielding, Adaptive Multi‐Color, and Thermal Camouflage of Basalt Fibers by Temperature‐Induced Gradient Structure Control

open access: yesExploration, EarlyView.
Polychromatic BFs with exceptional EMI and thermal shielding were fabricated based on a “plasma activation‐ALD bridging‐chemical plating‐post annealing treatments” gradient functionalization strategy. As prepared, basalt fiber/fabric demonstrates outstanding EMI SE of 53.47 dB and thermal infrared camouflage effect.
