Organotopic organization of the porcine mid-cervical vagus nerve [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Introduction: Despite detailed characterization of fascicular organization of somatic nerves, the functional anatomy of fascicles evident in human and large mammal cervical vagus nerve is unknown. The vagus nerve is a prime target for intervention in the

Novel Electroactive Therapeutic Platforms for Cardiac Arrhythmia Management

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Electroactive platforms offer promising applications in cardiac arrhythmia. Based on their energy sources and mechanisms, electroactive platforms are categorized into i) direct electrical stimulation, ii) self‐powered electroactive systems, iii) physical stimuli‐mediated electroactive systems, and iv) conductive systems, and their applications in ...

Beneficial effects of arthrocen on neuroinflammation and behavior like depression in stroke in a murine model

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 527-534, January 2023., 2023
Following oral administration of arthrocen supplement in post‐stroke depression model, the study recommended a novel protective effect by arthrocen on neuroinflammation due to stroke. It may play an antidepressant role through anti‐inflammatory as well as improved activity and mobility in mice‐induced stroke.

An unreported variation of the cervical vagus nerve: anatomical and histological observations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Variations involving the cervical portion of the vagus nerve are seemingly very rare. We report an adult male found to harbour a right cervical vagus nerve that crossed anterior to the right common carotid artery to terminate in the lateral aspect of the

Are PM6:Y6 Bulk Heterojunction Photoactive Films Cytocompatible and Electrically Stable in Biological Environments?

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
PM6:Y6 organic photovoltaic films are systematically studied to understand their potential for use in bioelectronics. The films exhibit excellent stability in simulated physiological environments, enabling consistent power delivery and demonstrating compatibility with rat neurons and the choriallantoic membrane of chicken embryos.

Current status, trends, and controversies in the selection of gastrectomy procedures: Insights from two nationwide questionnaire surveys conducted over a 7‐year interval in Japan

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This study investigates the evolving trends and challenges in gastrectomy procedures in Japan, drawing on two nationwide surveys conducted in 2014 and 2021. Results show a significant shift toward minimally invasive and function‐preserving surgeries, such as laparoscopic and robot‐assisted gastrectomy, with an emphasis on enhancing postoperative ...

Heart rate variability in marketing research: A systematic review and methodological perspectives

open access: yesPsychology &Marketing, Volume 40, Issue 1, Page 190-208, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Heart rate variability is a promising physiological measurement that accesses psychophysiological variations in response to a marketing stimulus. While its application spans diverse fields, there is a limited understanding of the usability and interpretation of heart rate variability in marketing research.

Do the psychological effects of vagus nerve stimulation partially mediate vagal pain modulation?

open access: yesNeurobiology of Pain, 2017
There is preclinical and clinical evidence that vagus nerve stimulation modulates both pain and mood state. Mechanistic studies show brainstem circuitry involved in pain modulation by vagus nerve stimulation, but little is known about possible indirect ...
