Influence of an Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere on Diamond‐Single‐Grain Scratching of Ti–6Al–4V

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 12, 17 June 2026.
Single‐grain scratching of Ti–6Al–4V is investigated under controlled, oxygen‐free, and ambient atmospheres using a novel experimental setup with in situ high‐speed imaging. The approach enables direct observation of chip formation and adhesion under suppressed oxidation.

Correlation between vanadium carbide size and hydrogen trapping in ferritic steel

open access: yes, 2018
Hydrogen trapping on vanadium carbides (VC) was studied in a low-carbon ferritic steel. Thermal desorption analysis was performed on two conditions with different carbide sizes but identical volume fractions.

Growth of Vanadium Carbide by Halide-Activated Pack Diffusion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The present work investigates growth of vanadium carbide (VC) layers by the pack diffusion method on a Vanadis 6 tool steel. The VC layers were produced by pack diffusion at 1000°C for 1, 4 and 16 hours.

Chemical Intercalant Affects the Structural Properties and Aqueous Stability of V2CTx MXene

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces
Vanadium carbide (V2CTx) MXene is a 2D nanomaterial widely investigated for energy storage applications due to its superior electrochemical properties. However, V2CTx quickly degrades in water, which limits its performance and longevity. Furthermore, the

Optical Properties of Vanadium in 4H Silicon Carbide for Quantum Technology

open access: yes, 2019
We study the optical properties of tetravalent-vanadium impurities in 4H silicon carbide. Light emission from two crystalline sites is observed at wavelengths of 1.28 and 1.33 mu m, with optical lifetimes of 163 and 43 ns, respectively, which remains ...
