Terahertz metamaterials for broadband, high modulation depth modulator, and tunable dual-band absorber based on metal-vanadium dioxide hybrid structure

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2023
Terahertz metamaterials for broadband, high modulation depth modulating, and tunable dual-band absorbing are designed based on the similar composite structure of metal and vanadium dioxide film arrays. By using external excitation to induce the insulator-

Unraveling the Mott-Peierls intrigue in vanadium dioxide [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
Vanadium dioxide is one of the most studied strongly correlated materials. Nonetheless, the intertwining between electronic correlation and lattice effects has precluded a comprehensive description of the rutile metal to monoclinic insulator transition, in turn triggering a longstanding "the chicken or the egg" debate about which comes first, the Mott ...

Visible optical nonlinearity of vanadium dioxide dispersions. [PDF]

open access: yesRSC Adv, 2022
The nonlinear optical response and all-optical applications of a vanadium dioxide dispersion have been investigated via the spatial self-phase modulation and spatial cross-phase modulation effects in the visible regime.

Magnetic-field-induced insulator–metal transition in W-doped VO2 at 500 T

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
Vanadium dioxide exhibits a metal-insulator (MI) transition. The mechanism driving this behaviour has long been a subject of debate. Here, the authors show that the MI transition in heavily doped vanadium dioxide can be driven by a magnetic field ...

Vanadium dioxide based plasmonic modulators

open access: yesOptics Express, 2012
Actively tunable metal-insulator-metal waveguides that employ vanadium dioxide films as the active medium are analyzed numerically. Vanadium dioxide exhibits strong contrast between the optical properties of its insulating and metallic phases. In particular, the large optical absorption in the metallic phase makes it straightforward to implement ...

A Design of Vanadium Dioxide for Dynamic Color Gamut Modulation Based on Fano Resonance

open access: yesCrystals
In this paper, a design of vanadium dioxide for dynamic color gamut modulation based on Fano resonance is proposed. This approach facilitates color modulation by manipulating the phase transition state of vanadium dioxide.

Switchable diurnal radiative cooling by doped VO2

open access: yesOpto-Electronic Advances, 2021
This paper presents design and simulation of a switchable radiative cooler that exploits phase transition in vanadium dioxide to turn on and off in response to temperature.

Vanadium doped tin dioxide as a novel sulfur dioxide sensor

open access: yesTalanta, 2008
Considering the short-term exposure limit of SO2 to be 5 ppm, we first time report that semiconductor sensors based on vanadium doped SnO2 can be used for SO2 leak detection because of their good sensitivity towards SO2 at concentrations down to 5 ppm. Such sensors are quite selective in presence of other gases like carbon monoxide, methane and butane.
