Oxidation of sulfites on vanadium-molybdenum oxides

Russian Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2013
The low temperature emission of 1O2 singlet oxygen from xV2O5 · yMoO3 binary oxides is investigated by means of flash desorption. Conditions for the generation of 1O2 on their surfaces are determined, along with the correlation between the amount of 1O2 and the degree of NaHSO3 conversion in the oxidation reaction.

Effect of vanadium oxide loading on the selective oxidation of methane over vanadium oxide (V2O5)/silica

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 1993
The effect of vanadium oxide loading on the selective methane oxidation over V[sub 2]O[sub 5]/SiO[sub 2] catalysts was investigated. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and temperature-programmed reduction (TPR) were used to characterize these catalysts. The results of XRD and TPR show that the catalysts with 1-8 wt% vanadium oxide loadings had a uniform structure

Diesel soot oxidation over supported vanadium oxide and K-promoted vanadium oxide catalysts

Applied Catalysis B: Environmental, 2005
Abstract Several systems of vanadium oxide and K-promoted vanadium oxide catalysts which supported on different carries with the variations of V contents and K contents were prepared by incipient-wetness impregnation method. Their catalytic performances for diesel soot catalytic oxidation were investigated with temperature-programmed oxidation ...

Lithium-niobium vanadium oxide and lithium-tantalum vanadium oxide, MVO5, bronzes

Chemistry of Materials, 1992
Mixed oxides NbVO5 and TaVO5 have been synthesized by a sol-gel procedure. Both compounds are isostructural with the so-called "monophosphate tungsten bronzes" (MPTB, (PO2)4(WO3)2m, with m = 2). In such structures single MO4 tetrahedra (M = P, V), share corners with M′O6 octahedra (M′ = W, Ta, Nb) building pentagonal tunnels along the [010] direction ...

PHASE TRANSITIONS IN INSULATING VANADIUM OXIDE

Physical Phenomena at High Magnetic Fields IV, 2002
The magnetic phase transition from the paramagnetic to antiferromagnetic state in insulating V2O3 shows some very interesting features. Not only is the magnetic order ng pattern anomalous, but the magnetic transition shows other surprises: I) the magnetic and orbital ordering occur at the same transition temperature; II) the transition is strongly ...

Anodic Deposition of Vanadium Oxides for Thermal-Induced Growth of Vanadium Oxide Nanowires

Journal of The Electrochemical Society, 2009
Hydrous vanadium oxides (denoted hereafter as VO x ·yH 2 O) were prepared by anodic deposition from an aqueous solution containing VOS0 4 and H 2 O 2 . X-ray photoelectron spectroscopic analyses demonstrated that the valence of vanadium in the deposits was mixed pentavalent and tetravalent.

Redox-Active Nanotubes of Vanadium Oxide

Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 1998
Unlike many small carbon nanotubes, VOx nanotubes (shown on the right) are obtained as the main product of a direct chemical synthesis at relatively low temperatures. The multiwalled material contains template molecules between the individual shells, which by a simple cation exchange can be removed without destruction of the tubes.

Vanadium-Catalyzed Oxidation in Ionic Liquids

2007
Among the various interesting features of vanadium(V) there is its ability to activate hydrogen peroxide in diverse oxidation reactions. In this respect, we proposed a simple and effective procedure for oxybromination of unsaturated substrates in a biphasic system H2O/CH2Cl2.

Vanadium(V) as an oxidant for thiol compounds

Talanta, 1977
Vanadium(V) is shown to oxidize a number of thiol compounds to the corresponding disulphides. A photometric procedure for the estimation of vanadium(V) in the presence of vanadium (IV) and diverse ions is described. A reinvestigation of the reaction of se(IV) in 4-8M hydrochloric acid with thiosalicylic acid confirms that the Se(IV) acts purely as an ...
