PDZome-wide and structural characterization of the PDZ-binding motif of VANGL2
VANGL2 is a core component of the non-canonical Wnt/Planar Cell Polarity signaling pathway that uses its highly conserved carboxy-terminal type 1 PDZ-binding motif (PBM) to bind a variety of PDZ proteins. In this study, we characterize and quantitatively assess the largest VANGL2 PDZome-binding profile documented so far, using orthogonal methods.

Vangl2 directs the posterior tilting and asymmetric localization of motile primary cilia
Nature Cell Biology, 2010Cilia are microtubule-based organelles that project into the extracellular space, function in the perception and integration of environmental cues, and regulate Hedgehog signal transduction. The emergent association of ciliary defects with diverse and pleiotropic human disorders has fuelled investigations into the molecular genetic regulation of ...

Effects of Retinoic Acid on the Expressions ofVangl1andVangl2in Mouse Fetuses
Journal of Neurogenetics, 2008This study reports the effects of retinoic acid on the spatiotemporal expressions of Vangl1 and Vangl2 in mouse fetuses. A single dose of 120 mg/kg body weight of all-trans-retinoic acid suspended in olive oil was administered intragastrically to each pregnant BALB/C mice on embryonic day (E) 9.5 (group 1, G1) or E10.5 (group 2, G2); mice treated with ...

The significance of Itga8 and Vangl2 in kidney development: Insights from yotari mice
Acta HistochemicaThe permanent kidney develops from the metanephros through the interaction of the ureteric bud (UB) and metanephric mesenchyme (MM). Congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT) are common prenatal diagnoses, and genetic factors play a critical role in their development.

Functional role of Vangl2 in bile duct injury
2019The Liver is comprised of hepatocytes, the parenchymal cells, and non-parenchymal cells which includes stellate cells, portal fibroblasts, inflammatory cells and cholangiocytes. Cholangiocytes are the epithelial cells of the bile ducts, which carry bile from the liver to the duodenum.
