The rapid analysis of fungal growth in the presence of inhibitory effects [PDF]
For fungal contamination of foodstuffs, there are no fast, reliable, automated techniques to examine growth, nor have any predictive models been developed to describe the growth in the same way as for bacteria. Traditional plating methods can take 3 to

Oxidative fast pyrolysis of biomass enables autothermal production of value‐added products. ABSTRACT Oxidative fast pyrolysis can potentially overcome the heat‐supply bottleneck of conventional fast pyrolysis by enabling autothermal operation while also tailoring product quality through controlled oxygen addition.

Minimal aromatic aldehyde reduction (MARE) yeast platform for engineering vanillin production
Background Vanillin represents one of the most widely used flavoring agents in the world. However, microbial synthesis of vanillin is hindered by the host native metabolism that could rapidly degrade vanillin to the byproducts.

A ternary CdS/1T‐WS2/CNTs heterojunction is in‐situ constructed via hydrothermal method, which is used for photocatalytic biomass reforming (biomass‐derived alcohols, lignin). It exhibits outstanding performance: H2 production rate of 26.17 mmol/g/h for benzyl alcohol (BA), benzaldehyde (BD) generation rate of 8.29 mmol/g/h, 90.06% BD selectivity, 100%

Enzymatische Oxydation von Vanillin
Vanillin was oxidised by peroxidase/H2O2 - The yields of divanillin, methoxyhydroquinone and unreacted vanillin were determined. Quantitative yield of divanillin was achieved when the molar ratio of H2O2/vanillin equaled 0.75.

Harnessing Acoustic Cavitation Energy for the Selective Degradation of Impurities in Glucose Syrup
The energy released during the implosion of acoustic cavitation bubbles can be harnessed and selectively transferred to a target solute, enabling its specific decomposition without degrading other solutes present in the solution. This proof of concept was demonstrated in the degradation of impurities present in trace amount in glucose syrup.
