Design and Analysis of Frequency-Tunable Amplifiers using Varactor Diode Topologies

open access: yes, 2011
The design of frequency-tunable amplifiers is investigated and the trade-off between linearity, efficiency and tunability is revealed. Several tunable amplifiers using various varactor diode topologies as tunable devices are designed by using load-pull ...

Reconfigurable Metamirrors Based on Compliant Mechanisms

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 10, 2 February 2026.
Providing the basis for numerous practical applications, the reconfigurability of metadevices is of great importance. Through the integration of controlled mechanical deformation with chiral meta‐atoms, a compliant mechanism based metamirror is demonstrated for active control over the polarization of electromagnetic waves.

Millisecond‐Switching Dual‐Band/Dual‐Polarization Ka‐Band Wavefront Control Enabled by a Complementary Liquid‐Crystal Metasurface

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 11, Issue 4, 19 February 2026.
An LCD‐compatible complementary liquid‐crystal metasurface delivers dual‐band, dual‐polarized Ka‐band wavefront control with millisecond switching via a 10‐µm LC gap. Interlaced patch/slot pairs enable independent phase tuning at 28 and 38 GHz, while strategic 45° slot rotation suppresses parasitic resonances. Measurements on a 160 × 160‐cell prototype

Heterostructure Barrier Varactor Multipliers

open access: yes, 1998
We describe the Heterostructure Barrier Varactor (HBV) diode and its application in frequency multipliers. Different varactor models are presented that easily can be used in large signal simulations.

Broadband Achromatic Programmable Electromagnetic Camouflage via Fluidic‐Accessible Metasurface

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 10, 18 February 2026.
A fluidic access metasurface enables dynamic, broadband electromagnetic illusions. By physically reconstructing conductive patterns with liquid metal, the metasurface achieves real‐time, pixel‐level control over phase dispersion. This allows for the programmable generation of arbitrary strong scattering point arrays, effectively deceiving high ...

Fabrication and characteristics of varactor diode for UHF TV tuner operated within ultra-low tuning voltage

open access: yes, 2007
A varactor diode for a ultra-high-frequency (UHF) TV tuner that can be operated within 5V of tuning voltage (VT) is presented. The fabricated diode has a shallow junction with a heavily doped p++ region on a steep hyperabrupt n+ region.

Photoresponse of area-variable varactor diode

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1996
Photoresponses and microwave characteristics of an area-variable varactor diode are investigated in the frequency range up to 7 GHz. It is demonstrated that the on/off ratio of its capacitance corresponds to 18.5 at 1 GHz. The capacitance is also significantly altered by photoillumination, and a maximum on/off ratio of 450% is achieved at 1 GHz with ...
