Fracture mechanics assessment of crack propagation in railway axle steels under fully reversed variable amplitude loading

open access: yes, 2022
S.259-268Application of fracture mechanics methods for predicting inspection intervals for wheelset axles requires, among other things, an accurate assessment of the level and sequence of service loads in the cross section subjected to examination.

Multiaxial random fatigue of magnesium laserbeam-welded joints - experimental results and numerical fatigue life evaluation

open access: yes, 2022
6168Fatigue life of magnesium laserbeam-welds (AZ31 and AZ61 alloys) was assessed experimentally under variable amplitude loadings. The specimens were subjected to load-controlled cyclic loadings.

Lightweight-structural durability design by consideration of variable amplitude loading

open access: yes, 2022
S.328-336The technical importance of variable amplitude (spectrum) loading is not only given by obtaining much longer fatigue lives compared with those determined under constant amplitude loading with the maximum value of the spectrum.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Study on Multiaxial Fatigue Damage Behavior of HRB335 Under Variable-Amplitude and Variable-Path Loading

open access: yesBuildings
Fatigue failure is a prevalent concern within structural engineering, often resulting in critical safety risks. The inherent complexity of construction projects leads to structural components experiencing loads of varying amplitudes and diverse load ...

Fatigue crack propagation characteristics of rubbery materials under variable amplitude loading

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2018
Fatigue failure is a critical issue frequently encountered by the rubber components in service. In this work fatigue crack propagation experiments with an edge-notched pure shear specimen under variable amplitude loading, which brings effectiveness in ...

Residual Stress Relaxation of DRWDs in OSDs under Constant/Variable Amplitude Cyclic Loading

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
An orthotropic steel deck (OSD) has a complicated structure, and its fatigue life is mainly determined by various welding details. Fatigue assessment of deck-to-rib welding details (DRWDs) under long-term train loads is an important concern for engineers.
