Structural Design of a Multi-Stage Variable Stiffness Manipulator Based on Low-Melting-Point Alloys

open access: yesTechnologies
Soft manipulators have garnered significant research attention in recent years due to their flexibility and adaptability. However, the inherent flexibility of these manipulators imposes limitations on their load-bearing capacity and stability. To address

Formal and informal social care in people with Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal diseases: a cross‐sectional multicentre survey

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Introduction Rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases(RMDs) are leading causes of physical disability, necessitating support with activities of daily living(ADLs). This study describes social care received by patients with RMDs in two disperate regions of England: Salford(urban) and Norfolk(rural).

Variable stiffness methods of flexible robots for minimally invasive surgery: A review

open access: yesBiomimetic Intelligence and Robotics
With high flexibility and slim body, flexible robots have been widely used in minimally invasive surgery because they can safely reach the lesion deep inside the human body through small incisions or natural orifices.

MECHANICAL VIBRATION CONTROL USING VARIABLE STIFFNESS ACTUATOR

open access: yesJournal of Engineering, 2006
Active control strategy had been used for controlling the vibration response, with considering the simplification in the design and keep away from complexity and high cost in order to extend the actual application of the active control systems.

Artificial Intelligence in Systemic Sclerosis: Clinical Applications, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune disease defined by immune dysregulation, vasculopathy, and progressive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Despite advances in care, major complications such as interstitial lung disease (ILD) and myocardial involvement remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality.

Exact Solution of a One-Dimensional Multicomponent Lattice Gas with Hyperbolic Interaction

open access: yes, 1994
We present the exact solution to a one-dimensional multicomponent quantum lattice model interacting by an exchange operator which falls off as the inverse-sinh-square of the distance.

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Computation of the modes and polar moment of inertial of the blades of an HAWT [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
The coupled differential equations of motion of the blades of a horizontal axis wind turbine are solved numerically, permitting the optimization of the design at relatively low cost.
