Thermal Conductivity Measurements of Wet Paper [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
The thermal conductivity of wet paper mats was studied as a function of moisture content and porosity. The conductivity measurements were conducted with a steady-state hot plate apparatus.

Temperature dependence of the conductivity of the electronic crystal

open access: yes, 2004
We study the temperature dependence of the conductivity of the 2D electronic solid. In realistic samples, a domain structure forms in the solid and each domain randomly orients in the absence of the in-plane field.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Effectiveness of Maxwell velocity and smoluchowski thermal slip constraints in presence of non-uniform heat source

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
Magnetohydrodynamic flow of nanomaterial by a stretched boundary is addressed. Entropy generation is examined. Variable fluid characteristics are considered.

Interaction of variable diffusion coefficients with electrokinetically regulated peristalsis of Carreau-Yasuda nanofluid

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2023
In this analysis, the interaction of variable diffusion coefficients with electrokinetically modulated peristaltic motion of a radiative Carreau-Yasuda (CY) nanofluid is communicated.

Control of heat flux using computationally designed metamaterials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
To gain control over the diffusive heat flux in a given domain, one has to design metamaterials with a specifc distribution of the generally anisotropic thermal conductivity throughout the domain.

Implicit Finite Difference Simulation of Prandtl-Eyring Nanofluid over a Flat Plate with Variable Thermal Conductivity: A Tiwari and Das Model

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
The current article presents the entropy formation and heat transfer of the steady Prandtl-Eyring nanofluids (P-ENF). Heat transfer and flow of P-ENF are analyzed when nanofluid is passed to the hot and slippery surface.

In vitro properties of patient serum predict clinical outcome after high dose rate brachytherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.
