Characterization of promising potato clones (Solanum tuberosum L. subspecies andigena) for starch extraction

open access: yesAgronomía Colombiana, 2012
Colombia has been overproducing potatoes with around 18% remaining unmarketable, constituting a potential alternative use in obtaining native starch for the food industry. To this end, 17 promising potato clones from the Programa de Mejoramiento Genético

Mapping Functionally Relevant Tractable Lysines of Challenging Protein Targets by Covalent Fragment Screening

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 11, 15 June 2026.
Screening a lysine‐targeting covalent fragment library against challenging protein targets revealed suitable warheads and characterized binding sites for the development of targeted covalent ligands. Covalent fragment screening has become an established strategy for identifying targetable amino acid residues or viable chemical starting points against ...

Exploring the Antimicrobial Potential of Vanadium‐Based MXenes for Biomedical Applications

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 3, June 2026.
Vanadium‐based MXenes (V₂CTₓ and V₄C₃Tₓ) exhibit moderate antibacterial activity against E. coli and S. aureus, mainly through mechanical “nano‐knife” membrane disruption rather than ROS generation. These nanomaterials show good biocompatibility and highlight the importance of standardized experimental models for evaluating MXene antimicrobial ...

Stability and cooperativity in chimeric de novo TIM barrels via quarter swapping

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract The use of repetitive units as building blocks in protein design, mimicking evolutionary duplication events, is a valuable strategy that reduces structural complexity. Such modular designs offer an opportunity to dissect how local contributions are integrated in a context‐dependent manner.

Quinoa Protein Concentrate as a Platform for the Protection and Controlled Delivery of Resveratrol and Tocopherol

open access: yesSustainable Food Proteins, Volume 4, Issue 2, June 2026.
Graphical abstract illustrating the development of quinoa protein (QP) nanocarriers for the encapsulation of resveratrol (RSV) and tocopherol (TOC). ABSTRACT The objective of this work was to generate and characterize complexes of quinoa proteins (QP) with either resveratrol (RSV) or tocopherol (TOC) whose dimensions fell into the nanoscale.

Optimized Green Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles Using Ocimum gratissimum Extract With Antibacterial and Antibiofilm Activity Against Multidrug‐Resistant Bacteria

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 11, Issue 19, 20 May 2026.
ABSTRACT While several studies have explored the green production of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), only a limited number have specifically investigated their antibacterial properties when synthesized using Ocimum gratissimum (OG) extracts as both a reducing and stabilizing agent.

CORRELACIÓN CANÓNICA ENTRE VARIABLES FISICOQUÍMICAS Y MICROBIOLÓGICAS EN HUMEDALES COSTEROS

open access: yesDerrotero, 2019
El Análisis de Correlación Canónica (ACC), es una técnica estadística multivariada de uso poco frecuente, pero de gran potencia para reducir la dimensionalidad de los datos y encontrar el mejor grupo de combinaciones lineales intra-grupales.

Mechanochemical Synthesis of Lead‐Free Halide Layered Double Perovskites: A Green and Scalable Approach

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 8, 28 April 2026.
Herein we report a facile, green, and scalable synthetic alternative for the obtention of layered double perovskites (LDPs) via mechanosynthesis. This approach allows for the synthesis of phase‐pure LDPs in batches of up to 5 g within minutes. To our knowledge, this represents the largest scale and fastest synthesis of these materials reported to date.

Compost legacy effects in active roadside restoration: Medium‐term shifts in plant succession

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence, Volume 7, Issue 2, April–June 2026.
Roadside restoration experiment established on volcanic tephra following road construction in Andean Patagonia. A single application of municipal (MC) or biosolids (BC) compost rapidly increased plant cover compared with untreated controls (C) but led to distinct, exotic‐dominated plant communities over 6 years.
