A variance components factor model for genetic association studies: a Bayesian analysis.
Studies of gene-trait associations for complex diseases often involve multiple traits that may vary by genotype groups or patterns. Such traits are usually manifestations of lower-dimensional latent factors or disease syndromes.

ABSTRACT Background An international Delphi panel of experts developed consensus statements to delineate the circumstances where the risks of dexamethasone as an antiemetic do and do not outweigh its benefits. Procedure Experts in supportive care of pediatric patients were invited to participate.

Impact of variance components on reliability of absolute quantification using digital PCR [PDF]
Background: Digital polymerase chain reaction (dPCR) is an increasingly popular technology for detecting and quantifying target nucleic acids. Its advertised strength is high precision absolute quantification without needing reference curves.

A Comparison of Variance Component Estimators [PDF]
Explicit solutions have been derived for the maximum likelihood (ML) and restricted maximum likelihood (REML) equations under normality for four common variance components models with balanced (equal subclass numbers) data. Solutions of the REML equations are identical to analysis of variance (AOV) estimators.

Clinical Insights Into Hypercalcemia of Malignancy in Childhood
ABSTRACT Hypercalcemia of malignancy (HCM) is a rare but life‐threatening metabolic emergency in children that occurs in less than 1% of pediatric cancer cases, with a reported incidence ranging from 0.4% to 1.0% across different studies. While it is observed in 10%–20% of adult malignancies, pediatric HCM remains relatively uncommon.

ABSTRACT Purpose Retinoblastoma (RB) is the most common pediatric ocular cancer, yet population‐based data on survival and risk factors remain limited. This study aimed to describe survival in a large national RB cohort and identify predictors of death and complications.

Phenotypic Analysis of Fourier-Transform Infrared Milk Spectra in Dairy Goats
The infrared spectrum of bovine milk is used to predict many interesting traits, whereas there have been few studies on goat milk in this regard. The objective of this study was to characterize the major sources of variation in the absorbance of the ...
