Multiclass Total Variation Clustering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Ideas from the image processing literature have recently motivated a new set of clustering algorithms that rely on the concept of total variation.

Evolutionary interplay between viruses and R‐loops

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses interact with specialized nucleic acid structures called R‐loops to influence host transcription, epigenetic states, latency, and immune evasion. This Perspective examines the roles of R‐loops in viral replication, integration, and silencing, and how viruses co‐opt or avoid these structures.

Variational Methods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This contribution presents derivative-based methods for local sensitivity analysis, called Variational Sensitivity Analysis (VSA). If one defines an output called the response function, its sensitivity to inputs variations around a nominal value can be studied using derivative (gradient) information.

Disruption of SETD3‐mediated histidine‐73 methylation by the BWCFF‐associated β‐actin G74S mutation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The β‐actin G74S mutation causes altered interaction of actin with SETD3, reducing histidine‐73 methylation efficiency and forming two distinct actin variants. The variable ratio of these variants across cell types and developmental stages contributes to tissue‐specific phenotypical changes. This imbalance may impair actin dynamics and mechanosensitive

Analysis of the Future Distribution and Trend of Arctic Sea Ice Using CMIP6 Data

open access: yesHaiyang Kaifa yu guanli
This study examines the future spatial distributions and long-term trends of the sea ice concentration (SIC) and the sea ice thickness (SIT) in the Arctic, along with the potential impacts of the Temperature at Surface (TAS), using the outputs of six ...

The Impacts of Regime Shift in Summer Arctic Oscillation on Precipitation in East Asia

open access: yesAtmosphere
Using multiple observational and reanalysis data, this paper investigates the impact of the interdecadal shift in summer Arctic Oscillation (AO) on precipitation in East Asia, by removing ENSO influences.

Variations in aerosol optical and microphysical properties during an Indian festival observed with space-borne and ground-based observations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This study analyzes changes in the response of meteorological parameters, aerosol, ozone, and water vapor properties over a tropical urban station in Pune, India, using ground-based and satellite data sets from February 23 to March 4, 2010 covering the ...

Purification tags markedly affect self‐aggregation of CPEB3

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Although recombinant proteins are used to study protein aggregation in vitro, uncleaved tags can interfere with accurate interpretation. Our findings demonstrate that His₆‐GFP and His₁₂ tags significantly affect liquid droplet and amyloid fibril formation in the intrinsically disordered region (IDR) of mouse cytoplasmic polyadenylation element‐binding ...

Language universals and interlinguistic variation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
Actually, the title should include intralinguistic variation along with the interlinguistic one. For variation within one and the same language is the thing which directly presents itself to the observation while it still remains to be demonstrated that ...

Circulating histones as clinical biomarkers in critically ill conditions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circulating histones are emerging as promising biomarkers in critical illness due to their diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic potential. Detection methods such as ELISA and mass spectrometry provide reliable approaches for quantifying histone levels in plasma samples.
