Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Variational formulations for the Euler and Navier–Stokes systems in fluid mechanics and related models

open access: yesNonlinear Engineering
In its first part, this article develops a variational formulation for the incompressible Euler system in fluid mechanics. The results are based on standard tools of calculus of variations and constrained optimization.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Formulation and performance of variational integrators for rotating bodies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Variational integrators are obtained for two mechanical systems whose configuration spaces are, respectively, the rotation group and the unit sphere. In the first case, an integration algorithm is presented for Euler’s equations of the free rigid body ...

Numerical Resolution of Fluid Dynamic Problems Using a Saddle Point Variational Formulation

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2019
Variational methods are useful for finding numerical solutions of differential equations, which are the corresponding Euler-Lagrange equations to the stationary condition of the functional. Usually the functional is a maximum or a minimum with respect to

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Variational formulation of thermomechanical problems

open access: yesУчёные записки Казанского университета: Серия Физико-математические науки
This article proposes that a 4D space-time continuum is used for building variational thermomechanical continuum models. In order to identify physical constants in reversible processes, physically justified hypotheses were formulated.

An Equilibrium Model of Interbank Networks Based on Variational Inequalities

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematical Physics, 2013
We develop an equilibrium model of credit network and trust network in the interbank market. We consider two kinds of decision makers including banks with liquidity surplus and banks with liquidity shortage.

A variational formulation of shallow shells

open access: yesInternational Journal for Engineering Modelling, 1991
A sound variational framework applicable to shallow shell analysis is proposed in this work. The addition of the so-called drilling degrees of freedom, usually absent in the shell analysis, is facilitated within the proposed framework at the continuum level.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.
