Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

A Fractional-Order Fidelity-Based Total Generalized Variation Model for Image Deblurring
Image deblurring is a fundamental image processing task, and research for efficient image deblurring methods is still a great challenge. Most of the currently existing methods are focused on TV-based models and regularization term construction; little ...

Approximate Inference for Constructing Astronomical Catalogs from Images
We present a new, fully generative model for constructing astronomical catalogs from optical telescope image sets. Each pixel intensity is treated as a random variable with parameters that depend on the latent properties of stars and galaxies.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Efficient Schemes for Total Variation Minimization Under Constraints in Image Processing [PDF]
This paper presents new fast algorithms to minimize total variation and more generally l1-norms under a general convex constraint. Such problems are standards of image processing. The algorithms are based on a recent advance in convex optimization proposed by Yurii Nesterov.

Detection of extrachromosomal circular DNA (eccDNA) in plasma samples from EGFR‐mutated non‐small cell lung cancer patients. Plasma was collected before and during treatment with the EGFR‐tyrosine kinase inhibitor osimertinib. Plasma eccDNA was detected in all cancer samples, and the presence of the EGFR gene on eccDNA serves as a potential biomarker ...

Bayesian 3-D interferometric ISAR imaging for the targets with limited pulses
It is difficult to yield high azimuth resolution of a target in short coherent processing interval, which brings certain challenges for the subsequent three-dimensional (3-D) interference inverse synthetic aperture radar (InISAR) imaging.

Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.
