On Random Variational Inequalities

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 1997
Let \((H,(.,.))\) be a real separable Hilbert space with the Borel \(\sigma\)-algebra \({\mathcal B}(H).\) Let \((\Omega,{\mathcal X})\) be a measurable space. A mapping \(T:\;\Omega\times H\to H\) is called a random operator, if for any given \(x\in H,\;T(t,x)=y(t)\) is measurable.

Food Tastes in the United States: Convergence or Divergence?

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates how food consumption tastes have changed in recent decades across the United States. Using NielsenIQ data for over 77 million transactions, there is evidence of divergence in food tastes across regions from 2007 to 2016 and across households of different income, education, and race/ethnicity groups.

Weak solutions for nonlocal evolution variational inequalities involving gradient constraints and variable exponent

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2013
In this article, we study a class of nonlocal quasilinear parabolic variational inequality involving $p(x)$-Laplacian operator and gradient constraint on a bounded domain.

Variational inequalities

open access: yes, 2015
If $- \infty < < < \infty $ and $f \in C^{3} \left( [ , ] \times {\bf R}^{2} , {\bf R} \right) $ is bounded, while $y \in C^{2} \left( [ , ] , {\bf R} \right) $ solves the typical one-dimensional problem of the calculus of variations to minimize the function $$F \left( y \right) = \int_{ }^{ }f \left( x, y(x), y'(x) \right) dx,$

The Role of Certifications in Improving Household Food Security Among Peruvian Farmers

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Achieving global food security requires sustainable transformations in agri‐food systems. Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS) such as Organic and Fairtrade aim to internalize certain social and environmental costs while promoting more equitable value distribution, improved market access, and sustainable production practices.

Well-Posedness by Perturbations for Variational-Hemivariational Inequalities

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2012
We generalize the concept of well-posedness by perturbations for optimization problem to a class of variational-hemivariational inequalities. We establish some metric characterizations of the well-posedness by perturbations for the variational ...

System‐level analysis of industrial electrification

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electrification is a promising method for industrial decarbonization, but understanding its potential is challenging due to the plethora of relevant technologies and industrial sectors it can be applied to. To this end, we develop an assessment framework to quantify the cost and environmental impacts of electrification, including the option to

Stochastic optimization of Power‐to‐Methanol: Production cost sensitivity to process design vs. scheduling

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Under time‐varying electricity prices, the production costs of Power‐to‐X processes with intermediate storage can be reduced by simultaneously optimizing the process unit design and size with their scheduling and operation. However, the production cost sensitivity to optimal process design or scheduling is unclear, especially when several ...
