Fault Detection in a Multistage Gearbox Based on a Hybrid Demodulation Method Using Modulation Intensity Distribution and Variational Mode Decomposition

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2018
It is critical to detect hidden, periodically impulsive signatures caused by tooth defects in a gearbox. A hybrid demodulation method for detecting tooth defects has been developed in this work based on the variational mode decomposition algorithm ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

A customised 1D-CNN for recognition of freezing of gait in Parkinson’s disease using multivariate decomposition techniques

open access: yesOpen Computer Science
The freezing of gait (FoG) presents a sudden challenge in sustaining movement which becomes a common gait issue in people with later stages of Parkinson’s disease (PD). FoG often results in falls that reduces the individual’s impact on life.

Application of Variational Mode Decomposition based on the FOA and in Bearing Fault Diagnosis

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2020
The variational mode decomposition (VMD) is widely used in fault diagnosis. Extracting fault characteristics from vibration signals is a critical part in the bearing fault diagnosis.

Seismic attenuation estimation using multivariate variational mode decomposition

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2022
A seismic attenuation estimation approach is proposed based on multivariate variational mode decomposition (MVMD). MVMD, as a multivariable or multichannel signal processing tool, can extract several predefined multivariable modulation oscillations from ...

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Fault Feature Extraction Method of Gearbox based on Parameter Optimization VMD

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2020
In order to solve the problem that the signal-to-noise ratio of the gearbox fault signal is low and fault feature extraction is difficult,a method for extracting gearbox fault feature based on parameters optimized variational mode decomposition is ...

An Improved Adaptive IVMD-WPT-Based Noise Reduction Algorithm on GPS Height Time Series

open access: yesSensors, 2021
To improve the reliability of Global Positioning System (GPS) signal extraction, the traditional variational mode decomposition (VMD) method cannot determine the number of intrinsic modal functions or the value of the penalty factor in the process of ...

Elevated Connectivity During Language Processing Is Associated With Cognitive Performance in SeLECTS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Self‐Limited Epilepsy with Centrotemporal Spikes (SeLECTS) is associated with language impairments despite seizures originating in the motor cortex, suggesting aberrant cross‐network interactions. Here we tested whether functional connectivity in SeLECTS during language tasks predicts language performance.
