Cenozoic Tectonics Ignite Mitochondrial Codon Innovations Propelling Canid Body Size Evolution and Transcontinental Radiations

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
We decode mitochondrial genomes across all extant canids, revealing lineage‐specific codon optimization driven by altitude, predation, and body size. A tripartite framework integrates geological events, metabolic constraints, and adaptive radiation to explain carnivore evolution.

Cost‐Effectiveness Analysis of Transoral Robotic Surgery Versus Radiotherapy Alone for Early‐Stage HPV‐Associated Oropharynx Squamous Cell Carcinoma in Australia

open access: yesJournal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Transoral robotic surgery (TORS) and radiotherapy are both recognised as effective treatment options for early‐stage HPV‐associated oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (HPV‐OPSCC). TORS offers the benefit of a shorter total treatment duration; however, a proportion of patients require adjuvant radiotherapy with or without ...

Outcomes for Patients With Micro‐Invasive or Small HER2+ Breast Cancer in Northern Sydney Local Health District

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Clinical Oncology, EarlyView.
This retrospective study of patients with small, node‐negative HER2+ breast cancer found favorable 5‐year invasive disease‐free survival rates—93% for pT1mic/a disease and 100% for pT1b disease. Trastuzumab was administered to 66% of patients and was associated with larger tumor size and higher histologic grade.

Lung V5 and Planning Target Volume/Lung Volume Ratio as Independent Risk Factors for ≥Grade 2 Radiation Pneumonitis after Moderately Hypofractionated Radiotherapy: A Retrospective Study

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Clinical Oncology, EarlyView.
Lung V5 and the planning target volume/lung volume ratio were identified as independent dosimetric risk factors for clinically significant radiation pneumonitis following moderately hypofractionated radiotherapy for lung cancer. Maintaining V5 < 35% may help mitigate this risk in clinical practice.
