Viral Immunity in Immunoglobulin Products: Global Immunity Debt and Autoimmunity in the Postpandemic Era

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 56, Issue 3, March 2026.
Immunoglobulin products derived from pooled global plasma reflect population‐level antiviral immunity. Analysis of batches from 2017 to 2023 reveals pandemic‐driven shifts in viral antibody profiles and a concurrent rise in autoantibodies, notably against TRIM21/Ro52, highlighting links between SARS‐CoV‐2, immunity debt, and autoimmunity.

Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for detection of antibody to varicella-zoster virus [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
Primary varicella-zoster virus (VZV) infection is a serious illness in immunocompromised individuals, and a rapid, sensitive, and reliable assay to identify high-risk VZV-susceptible patients would be clinically useful.

Mpox (Monkeypox) in Pregnancy Updates

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Mpox is a zoonotic viral disease caused by the monkeypox virus, with potential for significant morbidity across all population groups, including pregnant individuals and neonates. A Case of Aseptic Meningitis Presenting With Widespread Non‐Dermatomal Neuropathic Pain

open access: yesJournal of General and Family Medicine, Volume 27, Issue 2, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Aseptic meningitis occasionally causes neuropathic pain in a dermatomal distribution, but widespread non‐dermatomal pain is extremely rare. We report a case of a 62‐year‐old man with ulcerative colitis who developed neuropathic pain involving the head, trunk, and limbs.

Varicella-zoster virus

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1991
Over the past 15 years or so, we have witnessed a dramatic increase in the generation of nucleic acid sequence data. The impact of this process has been felt particularly in animal virology, so that we now have complete genome sequences for representatives of most of the virus families.

ISBN: 0-521-66024-6 If I were a betting man, and one could bet on such matters, I would stake the price of a new stethoscope that chicken pox will soon be a subject of media and thus public (and thus political) interest, at least in the UK.
