Impact of inferior vena cava thrombosis on the prevalence of pulmonary embolism in patients with lower extremity deep vein thrombosis

open access: yesScientific Reports
Inferior vena cava thrombosis (IVCT) is a special form of venous thromboembolism. Lower extremity deep vein thrombosis (LEDVT) is associated with an increased incidence of pulmonary embolism (PE), but the association between concomitant IVCT and PE in ...

The oxidized phospholipid PGPC impairs endothelial function by promoting endothelial cell ferroptosis via FABP3

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research
Ferroptosis is a novel cell death mechanism that is mediated by iron-dependent lipid peroxidation. It may be involved in atherosclerosis development. Products of phospholipid oxidation play a key role in atherosclerosis.

Dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) regulates trophoblast syncytialization through organelle stress–induced cellular senescence

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The inhibition of mitochondrial dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) impairs syncytialization and induces cellular senescence via mitochondrial and endoplasmic reticulum stress in human trophoblast stem cells, elevating sFlt1/PlGF levels, a hallmark of placental dysfunction in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

Evaluation of extended direct oral anticoagulant dosing strategies in patients with and without cancer from a prospective observational registry

open access: yesResearch and Practice in Thrombosis and Haemostasis
Background: Low-dose direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) have been studied in randomized controlled trials for extended prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE) after 6 months at therapeutic doses.

The Aging Blood: Cellular Origins, Circulating Drivers, and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
As a conduit linking all organs, the blood system both reflects and actively drives systemic aging. This review highlights how circulating pro‐aging and antiaging factors and age‐associated hematopoietic stem cell dysfunction contribute to immunosenescence and multi‐organ decline, positioning the hematopoietic system as a target for aging intervention.

Serum peptidomics profiling reveals fibrinogen alpha chain-derived peptides associated with clinical outcome in patients with heart failure

open access: yesBMC Cardiovascular Disorders
Background There is an urgent need for effective risk prediction tools to assess all-cause mortality in heart failure (HF) patients, and recent serum peptidomics advancements may help identify potential biomarkers associated with HF outcome.

Natural Products as Geroprotective Modulators in Diabetic Nephropathy: A Mechanistic Framework Integrating Aging Hallmarks and the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 Axis

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Natural products target the aging kidney in diabetic nephropathy by restoring the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 axis, reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, fibrosis, and cellular senescence while enhancing mitochondrial biogenesis and antioxidant defenses.

Research on cross-dataset cardiac signal domain generalization and feature interpretability

open access: yesScientific Reports
Cross-dataset modeling of electrocardiogram signals faces the dual challenges of domain shift and insufficient interpretability in clinical applications. To address these issues, this study proposes a Transformer-based cross-domain ECG modeling framework

Prediction Model for Etiologic Differentiation of Isolated Vestibular Syndrome in Emergency Settings

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This study aimed to develop and validate a predictive model for differentiating central from peripheral etiologies in patients with isolated vestibular syndrome (VS). Methods In this multicenter retrospective cohort study, 506 patients with isolated VS from five hospitals were divided into derivation (n = 301) and validation (n = 205)
