Alk1 Signaling in Vascular Development [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Heterozygous loss of the endothelial-specific transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) Type 1 receptor, activin receptor-like kinase 1 (ALK1), results in the autosomal dominant disorder, hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia type 2 (HHT2), which is ...

EGFL7 meets miRNA-126 : an angiogenesis alliance

open access: yes, 2010
Blood vessels form de novo through the tightly regulated programs of vasculogenesis and angiogenesis. Both processes are distinct but one of the steps they share is the formation of a central lumen, when groups of cells organized as vascular cords ...

Neutrophil‐Mimetic MRI Enables Ultra‐Early Detection of Vascular Inflammation After Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed neutrophil‐mimetic MRI probes that detect ultra‐early neuroinflammation following ischemic stroke by targeting E‐selectin. Within seconds of their injection, these microparticles mimic initial leukocyte adhesion to the activated cerebral endothelium.

The relationship between 1,25(OH)D levels and interleukin-32 and vascular endothelial growth factor levels in endometriosis cyst tissue: An original article

open access: yesSAGE Open Medicine
Background: Endometriosis involves the presence of endometrial-like tissue outside the uterus, driven by inflammatory pathways including elevated interleukin-32 and vascular endothelial growth factor.

Anti-vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Therapy (anti-VEGF) in the Treatment of Neovascular Membrane Secondary to Angioid Streaks – Case Report

open access: yes
Angioid streaks, a rare defect of Bruch’s membrane, are most typically characterized by an asymptomatic course. However, when complications such as submacular hemorrhage or a neovascular membrane develop, visual acuity may deteriorate markedly, requiring

New molecular mediators in tumor angiogenesis

open access: yes, 2007
Angiogenesis is essential for tumor growth and progression. It has been demonstrated that tumor growth beyond a size 1 to 2 mm3 requires the induction of new vessels.

Rapid Fabrication of Self‐Propelled and Steerable Magnetic Microcatheters for Precision Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A rapid Joule heating fabrication method for the production of self‐propelling, adaptive microcatheters, with tunable stiffness and integrated microfluidic channels is presented. Demonstrated through three microrobotic designs, including a steerable guiding catheter, an untethered wave‐crawling TubeBot, and a distal‐end propelled microcatheter, it was ...
