Contractions on a manifold polarized by an ample vector bundle

open access: yes, 1997
A complex manifold X of dimension n together with an ample vector bundle E on it will be called a generalized polarized variety. The adjoint bundle of the pair (X,E) is the line bundle KX + det(E).

What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

Conformal vector fields on tangent bundle of a Riemannian manifold

open access: yes, 2008
Let M be an n-dimensional Riemannian manifold and TM its tangent bundle. The conformal and fiber preserving vector fields on TM have well-known physical interpretations and have been studied by physicists and geometers using some Riemannian and pseudo ...

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

Geodesics and killing vector fields in a tangent bundle

open access: yes, 2006
The main purpose of this paper is to study geodesics and Killing vector fields in a tangent bundle with respect to the synectic lift s∇ of an affine ...

Field Report from Collaborative Research Center 1625: Heterogeneous Research Data Management Using Ontology Representations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A unified research data management framework for heterogeneous materials data is presented. The system integrates multimodal datasets using ontologies and knowledge graphs, enabling interoperability and FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) data principles. By linking data across scales and workflows, it supports reproducible, Artifitial

A Simplified Laminar Flow Model for the Pultrusion of Glass Fiber/Polyethylene Terephthalate Commingled Yarns

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

A Vector Bundle View of Parameter-dependent Boundary Value Problems.

open access: yes, 2019
This thesis starts by constructing a complex line bundle for a simple 3-parameter family of 2 x 2 Hermitian matrices and explicitly computing its first Chern number.

The Weyl bundle

open access: yes, 1982
Let F be a symplectic vector bundle over a space X. We construct a bundle of elementary C*-algebras over X, and prove that the Dixmier-Douady invariant of this bundle is zero.
