Neural Circuits between Nodose Ganglion and Pulmonary Neuroendocrine Cells Regulate Lung Inflammatory Responses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TRPA1+αCGRP+ sensory neurons in the nodose ganglion detect external insults such as lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and interact directly with pulmonary neuroendocrine cells (PNECs), promoting their activation and proliferation. This neural‐epithelial interaction amplifies lung inflammation.

Investigations of Koutango Virus Infectivity and Dissemination Dynamics in Aedes aegypti Mosquitoes

open access: yesEnvironmental Health Insights, 2014
Aedes aegypti has already been implicated in the emergence of dengue and chikungunya viruses in the southern US. Vector competence is the ability of a mosquito species to support transmission of an arbovirus, which is bounded by its ability to support ...

Ratoon Season Rice Reduces Methane Emissions by Limiting Acetic Acid Transport to the Rhizosphere and Inhibiting Methanogens

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study finds that the interaction between ABA‐OsCIPK2‐OsSWEET1A reduces the allocation of methane producing bacteria carbon source (acetic acid) content to the rhizosphere soil of ratoon season rice, thereby reducing methane emissions. Abstract Rice paddies are a major, persistent source of atmospheric methane (CH4), emission rates depend on the ...

MOESM1 of Comparative vector competence of North American Lyme disease vectors

open access: yes, 2020
Additional file 1: Table S1. Host attachment rates for larval I. pacificus and I. scapularis fed on naïve Peromyscus maniculatus. 150 larvae (either I. pacificus or I. scapularis) were placed on each of four mice.

Tendon Organoids Enable Functional Tendon Rejuvenation Through ALKBH5‐Dependent RNA Demethylation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
FT organoids reverse the aged phenotype of tendon cells, reinstating a fetal‐like state. This breakthrough establishes a potent cell source for tendon tissue engineering, effectively advancing regenerative medicine. ABSTRACT Adult tendon injuries pose a major clinical challenge due to limited self‐repair capacity, resulting in suboptimal regeneration ...

Tick-Pathogen Interactions and Vector Competence: Identification of Molecular Drivers for Tick-Borne Diseases

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2017
Ticks and the pathogens they transmit constitute a growing burden for human and animal health worldwide. Vector competence is a component of vectorial capacity and depends on genetic determinants affecting the ability of a vector to transmit a pathogen ...
