Immune‐Cell Dynamics in the Tumor Microenvironment: Implications for Cancer Therapy

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
Immune‐cell dynamics in the tumor microenvironment converge on four major barriers to effective therapy: failed immune access, defective antigen visibility and priming, loss of effector maintenance, and suppressive tissue remodeling. These barriers emerge from local hypoxic, cytokine, metabolic, and stromal signals.

Ischemic Stroke and Traumatic Brain Injury: Epidemiology, Molecular Pathways, and Emerging Therapies

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 10, October 2026.
Schematic overview of secondary brain injury after ischemic stroke and traumatic brain injury. Both conditions trigger endothelial cell dysfunction, pericyte contraction, and upregulated AQP4 expression in astrocytic end‐feet, leading to blood–brain barrier disruption.

Small Proteoglycans, Big Impact: Decorin, Biglycan, and Asporin in Musculoskeletal Tissue Health and Disease

open access: yesProteoglycan Research, Volume 4, Issue 4, October 2026.
ABSTRACT The extracellular matrix (ECM) is a dynamic and information‐rich network that integrates structural support with biochemical and mechanical signaling. Among its key regulatory components are the Small Leucine‐Rich Proteoglycans (SLRPs), a family of matrix molecules that coordinate extracellular architecture with cell signaling.

Therapeutic Properties and Underlying Mechanisms of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Managing Rheumatoid Arthritis: An Integrative Review of Clinical and Molecular Findings

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, Volume 40, Issue 10, Page 6005-6042, October 2026.
The translational research framework integrating TCM for RA. The figure outlines a stepwise framework for the modernization and clinical translation of TCM in RA. Part 1 highlights the inheritance and development of TCM theory, including classical medical texts, traditional herbal knowledge, and syndrome differentiation–based treatment principles. Part

β‐sitosterol Alleviates Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension in Rats With Involvement of the VEGF/PI3K/AKT Signaling Pathway

open access: yesPulmonary Circulation, Volume 16, Issue 4, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a progressive and lethal disorder with limited therapeutic options. β‐sitosterol, a plant compound, has shown potential in managing PAH, but its protective mechanisms remain unclear. We evaluated the protective effects of β‐sitosterol against monocrotaline (MCT)‐induced PAH in rats and explored the ...

Elamipretide Rejuvenates Oocyte Quality and Restores Female Fertility During Reproductive Aging

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 10, October 2026.
We reported a novel peptide therapy showing that elamipretide restores the quality of aged oocytes for fertility by coordinately boosting oocyte nuclear and cytoplasmic maturation via activation of the VEGF signaling pathway. ABSTRACT Aging represents a major contributor to the deterioration of female fertility, with oocyte quality being the central ...

Endothelial TLR4 at the Crossroads of Vascular Senescence and Targeted Senotherapeutics

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 10, October 2026.
While Toll‐like receptor 4 (TLR4) mediates essential innate immune responses, its stress‐induced hyperactivation drives vascular endothelial senescence. The subsequent release of the senescence‐associated secretory phenotype (SASP) accelerates tissue aging and exacerbates various age‐related diseases.

Failed Mucosal Allostasis Distinguishes Murine IgG‐ From IgE‐Mediated Recurrent Severe Anaphylaxis

open access: yesAllergy, Volume 81, Issue 10, Page 3673-3694, October 2026.
This study investigates IgE‐ and IgG‐mediated pathways in acute and recurrent anaphylaxis using a murine ASA‐PSA model, assessing barrier integrity, immune activation and tissue remodelling across pulmonary and intestinal compartments. Recurrent IgE‐ and IgG‐mediated anaphylaxis produces divergent mucosal outcomes despite comparable systemic severity ...
