Low velocity impact modelling in laminate composite panels with discrete interface elements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A model enabling the detection of damages developing during a low velocity/low energy impact test on laminate composite panels has been elaborated. The ply model is composed of interface type elements to describe matrix cracks and volumic finite elements.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Flow Characteristics of a Fully Developed Concentric Annular Turbulent Flow

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The hydraulic transportation technology of piped vehicles is a new type of pipeline transportation mode. A concentric annular turbulent flow with different boundaries is formed between the barrel of the piped vehicle and the pipe wall.

Characteristics of proton velocity distribution functions in the near-lunar wake from Chandrayaan-1/SWIM observations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Due to the high absorption of solar wind plasma on the lunar dayside, a large scale wake structure is formed downstream of the Moon. However, recent in-situ observations have revealed the presence of protons in the near-lunar wake (100 km to 200 km from ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Analyzing the Inlet Gas Void Fraction on the Flow Characteristics for a Multiphase Pump Based on Cavitation Cases

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2023
Inlet gas void fraction (IGVF) affects the cavitation evolution in a multiphase pump and easily results in a drop of the head and efficiency when cavitation is more serious.

The distribution of basal motion beneath a High Arctic polythermal glacier [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The longitudinal pattern of surface velocity of a large, predominantly colds polythermal glacier (John Evans Glacier, Ellesmere Island, Canada) was measured over summer and winter periods.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Surface Air Movement: An Important Contributor to Ventilation of Isolated Subsurface Structures?

open access: yesInfrastructures, 2019
This study reports on near-surface airspeed measured using a fast-responding thermoanemometer during an investigation of ventilation of an isolated subsurface structure induced by natural forces. Air speed changes continuously, rapidly, and unpredictably
