Detailed characteristics of the near-wall flow containing unsteady viscous sublayer in smooth channel

open access: yesИнженерно-строительный журнал, 2016
Taking into consideration the experimental data on the longitudinal and the normal to the wall velocity fluctuations and the correlation coefficient between the fluctuations, the turbulent and viscous friction components near the wall were determined ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Experimental and Numerical Study on the Flow Characteristics of Synthetic Jets

open access: yesJournal of Fluid Science and Technology, 2011
Over the last decade, several studies have investigated synthetic jets. However, there are still many clarifications needed, including details of the structure and Coanda effect of synthetic jets.

MHD fractionalized Jeffrey fluid over an accelerated slipping porous plate

open access: yesNonlinear Engineering, 2020
The primary target of this paper is to obtain the analytic solutions for the incompressible unsteady flow of fractionalized MHD Jeffrey fluid over an accelerating porous plate with linear slip effect is assumed between fluid and the plate.

Effect of blocked sediments on flow characteristics and associated backwater effect in drainage pipes

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 2022
The study of hydraulic characteristics of water flow affected by blocked sediment is vital to assess discharge capacity in pipes with sediment sand to understand the process of pollutant and fine sand aggregation.

Velocity and cluster distributions in a bottleneck system [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2009
Velocity and cluster distributions for particles with unidirectional motion in one dimension are studied. The particles never pass each other, like cars on a narrow road that does not allow overtaking. As a result, particles cluster behind slow particles (queues are formed behind slow cars).

Hydrological controls on diurnal ice flow variability in valley glaciers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
This paper uses a combination of field data and three-dimensional modeling to investigate the spatial variability in basal conditions required to induce observed fluctuations in diurnal ice velocity at Haut Glacier d'Arolla, Switzerland.

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Experimental Study on PIV Measurement and CFD Investigation of the Internal Flow Characteristics in a Reactor Coolant Pump

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
The nuclear reactor coolant pump (RCP) is the core piece of equipment of a nuclear power plant (NPP). The energy performance and internal flow characteristics of RCPs are revealed by effective measurement methods, which are helpful to understand the flow
