Direct Numerical Simulation of Turbulent Channel Flow with Spanwise System Rotation and Velocity Slip on Suction Wall [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics
Direct numerical simulations are conducted to investigate the turbulent flow of an incompressible Newtonian fluid in a channel at a fully-developed state. The channel rotates steadily around its spanwise axis.

MOFs and COFs in Electronics: Bridging the Gap between Intrinsic Properties and Measured Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) and covalent organic frameworks (COFs) hold promise for advanced electronics. However, discrepancies in reported electrical conductivities highlight the importance of measurement methodologies. This review explores intrinsic charge transport mechanisms and extrinsic factors influencing performance, and critically ...

Velocity effects on slip evolution of faults subjected to constant and cyclic normal stress derived from laboratory tests

open access: yesRock Mechanics Bulletin
Understanding the slip-style evolution of tectonic faults is important for exploring the earthquake mechanisms. To reveal the fault slip characteristics under a complex stress state, we conducted a series of laboratory friction tests on saw-cut granite ...

PEDOT‐Based Eutectogel Electrode Arrays for Enhanced High‐Resolution Electrogastrography: Fabrication, Stability, and Wearable Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, we present a high‐density PEDOT eutectogel electrode array for enhanced body surface gastric mapping. Silver electrodes are blade‐coated onto flexible substrates, followed by electrogelation of PEDOT:PSS and the deposition of a PEDOT:LS eutectogel.

MHD stagnation flow of nanofluid past a permeable shrinking surface with various conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The purpose of the present study is to analyze the effects of slip and heat source/sink on magnetohydrodynamic stagnation-point flow and heat transfer past a permeable shrinking surface with convective boundary condition.

Measurement of Newtonian fluid slip using a torsional ultrasonic oscillator

open access: yes, 2007
The composite torsional ultrasonic oscillator, a versatile experimental system, can be used to investigate slip of Newtonian fluid at a smooth surface. A rigorous analysis of slip-dependent damping for the oscillator is presented.

Ceramic Particle‐Reinforced Medium‐Entropy Alloys With Outstanding Mechanical Properties Prepared by Novel Micro‐LPBF

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative medium entropy alloy (MEA) composite material was fabricated via micro laser powder bed fusion (μ‐LPBF) with appropriate nano‐ceramic particles doping and exhibited markedly improved overall performance, including synergistically enhanced strength and ductility, increased hardness and compressive strength, improved wear resistance and ...

Role of Histidine‐Containing Peptoids in Accelerating the Kinetics of Calcite Growth

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Amphiphilic histidine‐containing peptoids mimic carbonic anhydrase (CA) to accelerate calcite step growth. In the presence of Zn2+, they promote the deprotonation of HCO3−, the desolvation of Ca2+, and the reorganization of interfacial hydration layers, thereby reducing the activation barrier for calcite growth.

Lattice Boltzmann simulations of apparent slip in hydrophobic microchannels

open access: yes, 2005
Various experiments have found a boundary slip in hydrophobic microchannel flows, but a consistent understanding of the results is still lacking. While Molecular Dynamics (MD) simulations cannot reach the low shear rates and large system sizes of the ...
