Altered excitation-contraction coupling in human chronic atrial fibrillation [PDF]
This review focuses on the (mal)adaptive processes in atrial excitation-contraction coupling occurring in patients with chronic atrial fibrillation. Cellular remodeling includes shortening of the atrial action potential duration and effective refractory ...

This study presents an engineered human interferon‐lambda (hIFN‐λ) as an intranasal prophylactic against respiratory viruses. By combining AI‐guided backbone redesign and glycoengineering, the authors developed a thermostable, protease‐resistant, and scalable variant with improved mucosal penetration.

Vitamin D (VitD) modulates olfactory function by remodeling dendrodendritic synapses in tufted cells through vitamin D receptor‐dependent transcriptional and translational mechanisms. VitD regulates synaptic protein translation partially via mTOR signaling.

Left ventricular assist device-induced reverse ventricular remodeling
Left ventricular assist devices provide chronic pressure and volume unloading of the dilated left ventricle in patients with end-stage heart failure. This is associated with reverse structural remodeling (normalization of the passive pressure-volume relationship), reverse molecular remodeling (increased expression of several genes involved in calcium ...

Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a progressive condition with high morbidity and mortality, largely owing to right ventricular (RV) failure resulting from maladaptive remodeling. Our study provides strong evidence in support of a critical, detrimental role for AXL as a previously unrecognized determinant driving RV fibrotic pathology in PH.
