Integrating comparative spectrometry, image analysis, and thermal modeling, we reveal that (1) females optimize crypsis via background matching, (2) males prioritize high‐contrast disruptive patterning at a significant thermoregulatory cost (reduced solar heat gain), and (3) habitat‐specific monomorphism in Diploderma slowinskii underscores ecological ...

Geoid, topography, and convection-driven crustal deformation on Venus [PDF]
High-resolution Magellan images and altimetry of Venus reveal a wide range of styles and scales of surface deformation that cannot readily be explained within the classical terrestrial plate tectonic paradigm.

Abstract This article examines image–text relations in German illustrations of gambling around 1800, specifically focusing on the card game Pharo and the artist Johann Heinrich Ramberg. It shows Ramberg's technique of reuse and variation as well as the degree of satire in the designs and their accompanying descriptive or fictional texts.

Studies of the chemistry of vibrationally and electronically excited species in planetary upper atmospheres [PDF]
The vibrational distribution of O2(+) in the atmospheres of Venus and Mars was investigated to compare with analogous values in the Earth's atmosphere. The dipole moment of the Z(2) Pi sub u - X(2) Pi sub g transition of O2(+) is calculated as a function

ABSTRACT Accountants should engage more with natural and cultural capital accounting to make tools more accessible and to ensure critical information is provided to decision‐makers. While ecological economists have continued to innovate and design tools, corporate‐level accounting has seemingly lagged behind.

Mixed-valence iron minerals on Venus: Fe(2+)-Fe(3+) oxides and oxy-silicates formed by surface-atmosphere interactions [PDF]
Inferences from these investigations are that Fe(3+)-bearing minerals such as hematite magnesioferrite, acmite, and epidote are thermodynamically unstable, and that magnetite is the predominant mixed-valence iron oxide mineral on venus.

Norman and Nietzsche: The Political Project of Lindsay's The Magic Pudding
Australian artist and writer Norman Lindsay (1879–1969) wrote 11 novels and two children's books, one of which—The Magic Pudding first published in 1918—remains a national classic. This article argues that readers and critics have long misunderstood Lindsay's intention in writing this lengthy cartoon‐story about the adventures of Bunyip Bluegum in ...
