Filologija, 1959 Aspekt treba odijeliti od Aktionsarta, jer svaki od njih pripada drugoj gramatičkoj kategoriji. Uloga aspekta je funkcionalna, a Aktionsart ima samo leksičku vrijednost. U engleskom aspekatska vrijednost glagola određena je uvijek samo kontekstom, i isti glagol u različitim kontekstima poprima obje aspekatske vrijednosti.
