Uptake of dolichol by Vero cells

Biochemistry and Cell Biology, 1992
Characterization and kinetics of dolichol uptake by a Vero cell line are reported. Vero cells incorporate dolichol in a time- and dose-dependent manner. Optimal uptake is found at 37 °C and at a pH of 7.4. In contrast to cholesterol, an inhibitory effect on the dolichol incorporation is found for farnesol, geraniol, and retinol. Long chain polyprenols

Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus infections induce autophagy in Vero cells via ROS-dependent endoplasmic reticulum stress through PERK and IRE1 pathways.

Veterinary Microbiology, 2020
Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV), the causative agent of PED, belongs to the genus Alphacoronavirus in the family Coronaviridae. Reactive oxygen species (ROS), endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress, and autophagy play crucial roles in regulating a ...

Tumorigenicity of Vero cells

Journal of Biological Standardization, 1984
One of the current criteria for evaluating the acceptability of cell lines for use in vaccine production is lack of tumorigenicity. Vero cells represent an example of a class of cells known as continuous cell lines. They were derived from African green monkey kidney, and their growth properties and culture characteristics have many advantages over ...

Characterization of Vero cells

Journal of Biological Standardization, 1988
A cell line used in the production of biologicals should be free of infectious agents, and 'described with respect to cytogenetic characteristics and tumorigenicity'. Vero, a continuous cell line derived from a normal African green monkey kidney, was examined for the presence of retroviruses and for tumorigenic potential.
