Cytotoxicity of butylated hydroxyanisole in Vero cells

Cell Biology and Toxicology, 2006
Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) is perhaps the most extensively used synthetic antioxidant in the food and cosmetic industry, although considerable controversy exists in the literature regarding the safety of this compound. Most in vitro studies describing the effects of BHA have been performed in cancer cells, but it is unclear whether normal cells are

Adherence of fusobacterium necrophorum to vero cells

Zentralblatt für Bakteriologie, Mikrobiologie und Hygiene. Series A: Medical Microbiology, Infectious Diseases, Virology, Parasitology, 1985
The adherence of the anaerobic species Fusobacterium necrophorum to the surface of Vero cells was studied. Adherence between the bacterium and the tissue culture cells was paralleled by the hemagglutinability of F. necrophorum. Treatment of the bacterial cells with lactoalbumin hydrolysate or anti-F.

Protective effect of polysaccharides from Celluclast-assisted extract of Hizikia fusiforme against hydrogen peroxide-induced oxidative stress in vitro in Vero cells and in vivo in zebrafish.

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2018
Polysaccharides were extracted by Celluclast-assisted hydrolysis and ethanol precipitation from Hizikia fusiforme (HFPS), and their in vitro antioxidant effects were evaluated in Vero cells.

Adaptation of Reptilian Paramyxovirus to Mammalian Cells (Vero Cells)

Journal of Veterinary Medicine, Series B, 2000
SummaryThe reptilian paramyxovirus GOV was successfully adapted to Vero cells in 80 passages at 30°C. The virus replicated with HA titres of 1 : 64 and 107.5 TCID50/ml in the heterologous host cells forming syncytia, giant cells and cytoplasmic inclusion bodies.

The susceptibility of Vero cell cultures for human adenoviruses

Medical Microbiology and Immunology, 1978
Human adenoviruses 1 to 28 were shown to produce a cytopathic effect in Vero cell cultures. Viruses of subgroups III and IV (Ad 1, 2, 5, 6, 12, and 18) were readily passaged in Vero cell cultures and were produced in high amounts. This was also found for Ad 11, 16, and 21, while Ad 3, 4, and 7 showed a lower degree of multiplication and Ad 14 could not

Protein metabolism during growth of vero cells

Journal of Cellular Physiology, 1977
AbstractProtein synthesis and degradation were studied throughout a growth cycle of Vero cells. The rate of protein synthesis, measured as the rate of amino acid incorporation, reached a maximum at the mid‐exponential phase and declined to 10–30% of the maximum in the stationary phase.

Integrin αvβ3 enhances replication of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus on Vero E6 and porcine intestinal epithelial cells.

Veterinary Microbiology, 2019
The entry mechanism of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) remains unclear, especially the virus receptor. Our previous study revealed a potential correlation between integrin αvβ3 and PEDV infection. In the current study, the effect of overexpression,

Growth of Vero E-6 cells on microcarriers in a cell bioreactor

Journal of Clinical Microbiology, 1990
Minimum essential medium supplemented with either 7% fetal bovine serum or 2% fetal bovine serum and 1.5% low protein serum replacement (Sigma Chemical Co., St. Louis, Mo.) factor was used to evaluate the growth of Vero 76 cells (E-6 clone) in a cell culture bioreactor.

Cell-fusion assay for the detection of rubella virus in Vero cells

Clinical and Diagnostic Virology, 1998
Rubella virus (RV) produces a subtle and slow-developing cytopathic effect in Vero cells that is difficult to recognize, especially at low multiplicities of infection. In order to facilitate the detection of RV in cell culture, we standardized a low-pH virus-mediated cell-fusion assay. The incubation periods, temperatures, pH and multiplicity of ...
