Molecular characterisation of a versatile peroxidase from a Bjerkandera strain [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biotechnology, 2005
The cloning and sequencing of the rbpa gene coding for a versatile peroxidase from a novel Bjerkandera strain is hereby reported. The 1777 bp isolated fragment contained a 1698 bp peroxidase-encoding gene, interrupted by 11 introns. The 367 amino acid-deduced sequence includes a 27 amino acid-signal peptide.

Lignin transformation by a versatile peroxidase from a novel Bjerkandera sp. strain [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Biodeterioration & Biodegradation, 2007
A versatile peroxidase, purified from a novel strain of Bjerkandera sp. (B33/3), was tested for its reactivity on a lignin fraction obtained from straw pulping. The effects of such processing parameters as reaction time, pH, and lignin:enzyme ratio were evaluated.

Comparative Analysis of Ligninolytic Potential among Pleurotus ostreatus and Fusarium sp. with a Special Focus on Versatile Peroxidase

open access: yesApplied Microbiology
Lignocellulosic biomass is contemplated to be an inexpensive and copious feedstock that can be used for numerous industrial applications. However, lignin forms the lignin sheath and provides a physical barrier to enzymatic hydrolysis. In addition, lignin

Description of a Versatile Peroxidase Involved in the Natural Degradation of Lignin That Has Both Manganese Peroxidase and Lignin Peroxidase Substrate Interaction Sites [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1999
Two major peroxidases are secreted by the fungus Pleurotus eryngii in lignocellulose cultures. One is similar to Phanerochaete chrysosporium manganese-dependent peroxidase. The second protein (PS1), although catalyzing the oxidation of Mn2+ to Mn3+ by H2O2, differs from the above enzymes by its manganese-independent activity enabling it to oxidize ...

Oxidation of sulfonamide micropollutants by versatile peroxidase from Bjerkandera adusta [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Internacional de Contaminación Ambiental, 2022
The oxidation of five sulfonamide antibiotics by the versatile peroxidase (VP, EC. 1.11.1.16) from Bjerkandera adusta was quantitatively assessed. The biocatalytic activity of the enzyme was studied by assaying different reaction conditions. Conversion levels were higher than 90 % for all five sulfonamide antibiotics in the model reaction system.

Limits of Versatility of Versatile Peroxidase. [PDF]

open access: yesAppl Environ Microbiol, 2016
ABSTRACT Although Mn 2+ is the most abundant substrate of versatile peroxidases (VPs), repression of Pleurotus ostreatus vp1 expression occurred in Mn 2+ -sufficient medium. This seems to be a biological contradiction. The aim of this study was to

Substrate oxidation sites in versatile peroxidase and other basidiomycete peroxidases [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Botany, 2009
Versatile peroxidase (VP) is defined by its capabilities to oxidize the typical substrates of other basidiomycete peroxidases: (i) Mn(2+), the manganese peroxidase (MnP) substrate (Mn(3+) being able to oxidize phenols and initiate lipid peroxidation reactions); (ii) veratryl alcohol (VA), the typical lignin peroxidase (LiP) substrate; and (iii) simple ...

Dynamics of ligninolytic enzyme production in Ganoderma applanatum depending on cultivation type [PDF]

open access: yesZbornik Matice Srpske za Prirodne Nauke, 2011
Ganoderma applanatum belongs to the group of white-rot fungi, due to a well-developed ligninolytic enzyme system. White-rot fungi have attracted great scientific attention in recent years, especially with respect to their enzymatic potential for the ...

Ligninolytic enzymes and its mechanisms for degradation of lignocellulosic waste in environment

open access: yesHeliyon, 2020
Ligninolytic enzymes play a key role in degradation and detoxification of lignocellulosic waste in environment. The major ligninolytic enzymes are laccase, lignin peroxidase, manganese peroxidase, and versatile peroxidase. The activities of these enzymes
