Lineshape of a vertical cavity surface emitting laser
Optics Communications, 2002We report on the experimental study of the lineshape of an air-post GaAs/AlGaAs Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL). The signal is obtained by heterodyne with a narrow linewidth extended-cavity laser. This technique allows to fully take into account the entire spectrum of frequency fluctuations.

Visible vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers
Optical Society of America Annual Meeting, 1992We report the operation of visible-light (670-630 nm) vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) in a photopumped structure. Visible VCSELs are a promising breakthrough for visible laser technology because of their surfacenormal operation, nonastigmatic output beams, ease of fabrication of closely spaced 1- and 2-dimensional arrays, and ease of ...

Vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser technology
SPIE Proceedings, 1993The technology of vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs) has grown dramatically in recent years. We have processed and packaged VCSELs, for various applications. The thermal, output coupling, and spectral characteristics for different devices and packages are shown. Practical single device and array packages, and the results of their coupling

Reliability of Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Lasers
Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 2012Vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) are among the least expensive lasers available, and have been widely deployed for data communications and illumination applications. They have also proved to be one of the most reliable types of lasers, due to the lack of exposed facets, and the relatively small area of the chip that is vulnerable to ...

Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Lasers for Interconnects
2017This chapter deals with the application of Vertical-Cavity Surface-Emitting Lasers (VCSELs) as directly-modulated light-sources in optical interconnects. It shows that VCSEL-based optical interconnects are going to replace the conventional copper-based technology.

Bistable Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers
1992Abstract : This work takes both theoretical and experimental paths in the study of how optical microcavities influence light emission from semiconductors. Computer simulation is used to guide the development of physical models for spontaneous and stimulated emission under the cavity influence, with experimental demonstrations used as tests of the ...
