On the Lightweight Potential of Laser Additive Manufactured NiTi Triply Periodic Minimal Sheet Lattices

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores the lightweight potential of laser additive‐manufactured NiTi triply periodic minimal surface sheet lattices. It systematically investigates the effects of relative density and unit cell size on surface quality, deformation recovery, compression behavior, and energy absorption.

Electrochemical Evaluation of Compressed Selective Laser Melted AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg Alloys in Chloride Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The corrosion performance of AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg alloys produced through selective laser melting (SLM) was examined under compressive stress in a chloride environment. Electrochemical analyses, including open‐circuit potential (OCP), potentiodynamic polarization (CPP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), were complemented by scanning ...

The influence of water oscillation on the vertical distribution of Microcystis colonies of different sizes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Floating and aggregation are critical stages in the formation of Microcystis blooms, which are significantly affected by wind and waves. In order to analyze the distribution of Microcystis colonies under wind-driven current, a vertical wave simulator ...

Variable Stiffness Flexure Structures Enabled by Phase‐Change Gallium and Adhesive Interfacial Locking for Soft Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A flexure‐based variable stiffness structure is developed by integrating phase‐change modulation and adhesive interfacial locking of gallium. The design enables a wide stiffness variability, transitioning from soft, flexible behavior to rigid, load‐supporting performance.

VERTICAL DISTRIBUTION OF STARS AND GAS IN A GALACTIC DISK [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We study the vertical density distribution of stars and gas (HI and H_2) in a galactic disk which is embedded in a dark matter halo. The new feature of this work is the inclusion of gas, and the gravitational coupling between stars and gas, which has led to a more realistic treatment of a multi-component galactic disk.

Thermodynamic Pathways of Nonequilibrium Solidification in Wire‐Arc Additive Manufacturing Fe‐Based Multicomponent Alloy Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Do Prices Determine Vertical Integration? [PDF]

open access: yes
What is the relationship between product prices and vertical integration? While the literature has focused on how integration affects prices, this paper provides evidence that prices can affect integration.

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated
