Soil Properties of Reclaimed Coastal Saline–Alkali Farmland in a Chinese Province: Spatial Variability and Soil Profiles

open access: yesAgriculture
Coastal saline–alkali farmland typically experiences poor crop growth and low yields. Clarifying soil quality and identifying the primary constraining factors are crucial for improving productivity.

Near‐Field Electrospinning Micro‐Printhead Achieves Precise Control of Nanofiber Deposition

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A micro‐printhead for near‐field electrospinning enables reproducible deposition of polymer nanofibers with diameters below 50 nm. Systematic parameter studies uncover the mechanisms linking operating conditions to fiber morphology, paving the way for precise and low‐cost nanoscale 3D manufacturing. As a high‐resolution, cost‐effective, and rapid ...

Distribución espacial de larvas de crustáceos decápodos planctónicos en canales orientales de la isla Chiloé, Chile Vertical distribution of planktonic decapods crustacean larvae in oriental channels of the Chiloé Island, Chile

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Aquatic Research, 2010
Se analiza la distribución vertical y abundancia de larvas de crustáceos decápodos planctónicos en canales orientales de la isla Chiloé. Se relaciona la distribución de larvas con la hora de captura y marea, que interferirían con las migraciones ...

Air‐Pressure–Actuated Vibroacoustic Metamaterial With Tunable Bandgap: Design, Modeling, and Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the design, modeling, and characterization of air‐pressure–actuated programmable vibroacoustic metamaterials (PVAMM). The study focuses on leveraging air pressure to dynamically tune resonance frequencies for effective noise attenuation.

PRODUCT QUALITY AND DISTRIBUTION CHANNELS [PDF]

open access: yes
We introduce strategic behaviour in assigning a certain distribution channel to a product of a particular quality. We propose a variety of models to analyze and study some of the determinants of the choice of distribution channels.

Combined Process‐ and Phase‐Field‐Simulation to Predict the Microstructure of Single‐Crystal Ni‐Based Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined finite element and phase‐field approach predicts the evolution of microstructure during the directional solidification of Ni‐based superalloys. The model reveals how withdrawal rate, temperature gradient, and wall thickness control the dendrite spacing, highlighting the strong effect of surface regions in thin sections where dendrite growth ...

Intra-industry trade between European Union and Transition Economies. Does income distribution matter? [PDF]

open access: yes
EU-TE trade is increasingly characterised by intra-industry trade. For some countries (Czech Republic), the share of intra-industry trade in total trade with the EU approaches 60 percent.

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

Changes in microplanktonic protists assemblages promoted by the thermocline induced stratification around an oceanic archipelago

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências
In the area around the archipelago of São Pedro e São Paulo (ASPSP), a set of small rocky islands in the Equatorial Atlantic, the thermocline begins at a more superficial depth than in the surrounding waters.
